Re: HExadrive pitched remaking SH2 before Bloober
Looking at this proof-of-concept video, I think HExadrive would be more suitable to direct a SH3 remake. Their aesthetics remind me much more of the third game's darker, higher contrast environments.

I'll get everyone a round of coke if that happens. Promise.

Re: "The body must have been crushed..."
Wasn't the "trapped in Silent Hill forever" aspect conceptualized in Downpour? I am not a fan of the idea that Silent Hill is the theologican version of limbo before death. Seems like the later developers simply took the religious symbolism a bit too far.

Re: Extra Content Yay/Nay/What?
>I do think Ito was surprised to learn that there was anachronism in the game, but that would be an oversight. Yeah, the fact that James used a VHS camcorder to film Mary at the hotel during their trip means that Silent Hill 2 cannot possibly take place in the 70's. The first commercially available ...

Re: "The body must have been crushed..."
Well, some people are just more unlucky than others. Doesn't matter how healthy they are, they still get a lousy deal in life.

Re: Extra Content Yay/Nay/What?
f could take place in modern time if the 60s setting is part of someone's dream/Otherworld, but that's pure speculation. I do find it quite odd though that they've already confirmed it takes place in the 60s - to me it reeks suspicion. It's almost as if they're saying "Nothing to see here, move...

Re: Extra Content Yay/Nay/What?
^Walter’s world definitely has its own sets of rules and laws that work slightly different from the Otherworld in the town of Silent Hill (and other places). Every level in the game is actually a dream that Henry visits during sleep, the only exception being the actual Room 302 itself which behaves ...

[And... for Claudia, too.]
I interpret this as Heather telling herself that Claudia dying is the best thing for Claudia herself...
She's clearly pitying her for being brainwashed, but knows that she'll never change her mind.

Re: Grief as a Main Theme of Silent Hill 3
Silent Hill 3 has many central themes, but if we focus solely on Heather's story I think grief is just one of them: revenge, motherhood, identity and self-discovery are all very important parts of her journey.

Re: Why Good+ Ending is My Canon Ending (spoilers)
Uh, yes it does; because in those films the time loop is the direct focus of the plot that is superobvious and not some vague interpretation of what's going on. It's a pretty stark difference. I actually went into more detail in this thread where I explain more about my stance on time loops in Silen...

Re: Is Konami now more open to a non-canon/hands-off approach?
I actually have no interest in arguing about which game is better or worse than the other, that's just counterproductive to me.
My point was simply that the series has never had an overarching story between the games, so there are not that many issues regarding canonicity of events.

Re: Why Good+ Ending is My Canon Ending (spoilers)
My only issue with that is how it diminishes stories with actual looping; films such as Groundhog Day and Edge of Tomorrow for example, where the protagonist's gained experience from loops is unmistakenly shared with us, the watchers. One could of course argue that video games belong to a different ...

Re: Why Good+ Ending is My Canon Ending (spoilers)
For all it's worth, we've only seen true looping in P.T.; where the protagonist is fully aware of its effects and uses the power of looping to progress further. You could argue that restarting Silent Hill, for example, and achieving the Bad ending instead of the Bad+ ending is an example of "lo...

Re: Is Konami now more open to a non-canon/hands-off approach?
The lackluster middle era of Silent Hill games, 3 through Homecoming, were all consciously trying to shoehorn in elements, references and in-jokes to previous games, and were, with the exception of Homecoming, directly inspired by story elements from the first two games. That's rather oversimplifyi...

Re: Silent Hill Ascension is a streaming interactive TV show
This quote bugs me a little bit in regards to it taking place in Silent Hill or not: "It follows all-new characters from around the world as they confront the horrors they have unleashed." From around the world? So are these people from different countries going to be magically transported...

Re: Meaning behind Save system?
Yeah, I know. I just don't think the 4th wall breaks are actual 4th wall breaks, except for the toilet scene which is an Easter egg and not part of the main game. The problem with video games in general is that due to their interactive nature, they almost always involve breaking the fourth wall by r...

Re: Bloober Team could develop more Silent Hill remakes
I'd wait until we get to play this remake first before entrusting them with more Silent Hill projects, especially something like the first Silent Hill which has a much more complicated story with multiple layers of intricate lore. I could see Bloober Team remaking Silent Hill 3, though, which has a ...

Re: Homecoming vs Downpour
Interestingly, Downpour seems to have a very large separate fanbase, something which Homecoming hasn't. I know this because I'm getting so much hate on my YouTube video where people harass me for giving Downpour a low rating.

Re: Meaning behind Save system?
There are plenty of scenes throughout the series where characters talk to themselves when nobody else is around, but that's pretty typical for most video games and doesn't really mean they're actually breaking the fourth wall. In Eddie's case, his crazy monologue near the end just sounds like he's t...

Re: Meaning behind Save system?
The scene where Heather breaks the fourth wall was originally only achievable if you had a save slot of SH2 saved on your console, so I’m not sure if it’s technically ”canon” in that sense. I took it as a joke scene made to please fans, not part of the actual game. I mean if every joke scene in the ...
