Re: Where it all began !!!!
When I first saw Gans' movie, I was disappointed. The atmosphere was epic, but it didn't capture the soul of the first game (or the series). But with time, that started to change. The more I watched the movie, the more I fell in love with it.. because I understood that it had its own soul and that I...

I suggest you take a look at "The Sullivan Victims" section of the Translated Memories site.Pastucci wrote:But in SH4 there is no mention of him. At all.

Well, you couldn't even if you wanted to. Valtiel left Walter years after the events of SH4.Pastucci wrote:I hear you, but when I play the games, I never saw Walter as being influenced by Valtiel at all

Re: Why the ending boss is named Incubus rather than Samael?
I'm curious where the pre-cult, pre-Alessa source of power fits in the grand scheme of things Well, a general belief is that the power was always there. No reference to any origin. However, I believe it's fair to say there are generally two main ideas about the Otherside/Otherworld timeline. The fi...

Re: Why the ending boss is named Incubus rather than Samael?
What was the proper name of the cult? The Order or Hope House? The Order. Wish House (aka Hope House) was an orphanage held by the Holy Mother sect. Also, the SH God seems to be thought of as female usually, though a female demon is typically called a succubus. Generally, Silent Hill's mythology li...

Re: The Labyrinth: A Map and Thoughts (SPOILERS)
^Exactly. The point is that as a whole you can't reduce it to one specific location. Even if there were mere materials from other locations. Besides, it's also known that the Otherworld tends to recycle various manifested content.

Re: The Labyrinth: A Map and Thoughts (SPOILERS)
It is a physical location, but one that doesn't belong in Silent Hill. It doesn't really matter. If we take in consideration the hypothesis that Nowhere bears no connection to an actual location that exists in the real world then the Nowhere location in SH2 can't be defined as the distortion of Jam...

Re: The Labyrinth: A Map and Thoughts (SPOILERS)
That also fits with mikefile's observation that it could be a representation of his mind. His apartment would be an important location in his memory, after all. Well, not exactly. It would contradict the idea that Nowhere bears no connection to an actual physical location that he remembers of, woul...

Re: The Labyrinth: A Map and Thoughts (SPOILERS)
It's nice to see the Labyrinth sections merged together in one map. Thanks for the share! The Labyrinth is also called "Nowhere", which is very convenient due to the fact it isn't a direct manifestation of any other physical area. It could literally be James' mind, given the compact outlin...

Re: Seriously?
Foolish, ignorant, gullible, brainwashed, idiotic and moronic 20th century North Americans doctors somehow actually once believed (...) It seems to me someone had a need to lash out, thus the description of Walter's psyche quickly degraded into a sophomoric and tasteless essay about the history of ...

Re: What I don't get about Silent Hill 4
Just to clarify, it was Dahlia who told Walter about Room 302 being his mother.
And if I'm not forgetting things, the Walter in the back of the room is the real Walter who killed himself in prison. It was Ghost Walter who dug him up and crucified him for the Holy Assumption.

Re: Does maria ruin the game?
In all fairness, Native Americans (and later, the Order's religion) also attributed a God to the Otherworld. And the reality of God is being clearly diminished throughout the whole series.

Re: Does maria ruin the game?
Ghosts are an existing thing in Silent Hill. True. But their involvement in the story development is minimal. There's a fraction of Mary inside Maria, but a fraction not substantial enough to act self-consciously. Maria's personality and choices are a result of James mixed up feelings. What I'm sayi...

Re: Does maria ruin the game?
Does Maria ruin the game? Um, Maria makes the game. I think she's actually one of the most interesting characters in the series. The ambiguity and mysteriousness of her existence is what really counts. She's cocky, she's hot, acts like a slut. But sometimes she doesn't.. changing her tone of voice, ...

Everything except for the ball turning into a head and maybe the toys was pure excitement.
I loved the worms on the wall, the squirming monster and especially the trick with the doors. These just felt right.

I too noticed some friends mentioning the PT in conversation, people who are not at all fans, so I picked up it was an excellent commercial and very smart move.
Kojima's really done a perfect first step. Now, let's wait for the next one.

Re: Release date: 2016 most likely - interview inside
I'm happy about 2016. Or even later. I'll probably die from anxiety issues 'till then, but that's fine. It would mean they're taking their time. I'm ready to wait for 2020 if that's what it takes to make a decent title (ok, I'm kidding, please don't make wait that long). Moreover, if it comes out in...

Re: Did any other characters have a punisher like PH?
It's an interesting thought. Although I still think Abstract Daddy is her "true" punisher, it wouldn't be far fetched. I believe people tend to forget the important role the mother had in the development of Angela's Otherworld. Even though it was the father who instilled physical pain upon...

Re: New Silent Hill? Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro pro
I'm excited as much as I'm worried. And I have to say, I'm pretty damn excited and I really hope for the best. The PT was very much awesome, that's true. And the title, if managed properly could become a spectacle. New, refreshing, original, atmospheric, up-to-date technology. What do you want more?...
