Re: Silent Hills cancelled

The Demographic winter in Japan is also a less discussed but big cause of slowing console sales. Consoles are primarily things bought for children and teens in school who have free time. Adults are usually too busy to game on console, which is why more use handhelds or cell phones. There are not en...

Re: Silent Hills cancelled

Here's a very good, sensible article about Konami's state of affairs: http://www.usgamer.net/articles/blog-who-killed-silent-hills It's not totally clear if someone high up in Konami simply doesn't like video games, or if this is just a business move towards ventures with less risk than video games....

Re: Silent Hills cancelled

I think it's not so much that they're incompetent, as they simply do not care. Video games are just not their main business anymore. Kojima was the last one who cared at that company.

Re: Silent Hills cancelled

This is actually not that surprising. Konami has been gradually moving away from the video game industry for quite awhile now. Video games are only a small part of their business these days. They also have fitness clubs, trading cards, slot machines, toys, and anime. From what I've heard, they make ...

I'm glad you ignored that though, truly.
Give me some examples of songs that were pre-composed for him, from the song examples I listed.

I don't like it when you put it that way, because you're not so much "educating" as expounding your own personal philosophy.

Mine too. You're only focusing on that one type of music. His really good stuff isn't industrial.

Re: New composer?

I'm pretty sure his most original songs are the rockish ones which in my opinion are quite generic, to me his "signature" sound are the industrial sounds used in the dark ambient songs and the ambience used in the trip hop ones, Honestly, there's so many great tracks from Silent Hill 1-3 ...

Re: New composer?

Take "Sun" from the SH 3 soundtrack for example, pretty much the entire ambience is a sample from Spectrasonics being looped, sure, it's nice sounding, but I wouldn't say he created it. I didn't say "Sun." I said the soundtracks from Silent Hill 1-3. Some of it is original, some...

Re: New composer?

I'm quite aware of it being a composer myself, but in my opinion Akira's use of them was rather shameless, some tracks are nothing more than 2 or 3 loops layered with a very simple melody on top. I so disagree. I think Akira created some of the best soundtracks I've ever heard, especially in 1-3. E...

Re: This or Sh4: The Room

You know, it's always boggled my mind that people trash on Downpour for its combat system. I've yet to see a Silent Hill game with spectacular, intuitive combat. Maybe because the series has never been about the combat in the first place. I really like the way that the early Silent Hills handle com...

Re: Kojima: "Silent Hill S could be open world"

Yeah, that's exactly how I feel about open world games. I've never really enjoyed the lack of focus in them. I prefer "semi-open" world games, like Metroid or Castlevania SOTN, where there is a critical path to follow but some room to explore. The earlier Silent Hill games basically used t...

Re: Silent Hill: Fisher Price!

I agree that the puzzles were weak. Personally I really like the puzzles in SH games, they fit with the game's indentity really well, and add a form of gameplay that makes sense for the series. But yeah, it would have been better to have no puzzles at all than the half-hearted puzzles in ShatMemz. A...

Re: Beta Monsters Textures

Wow, this is all really good work! It's neat to see what the monsters looked like in beta. I guess these changes were probably made for artistic reasons, and generally I think the final versions look better. The gray children especially look way more creepy in the final version. But still it's neat ...

Re: Hard Difficulty - Will I Rage?

Don't put the riddle level on hard unless you know what you're getting into. Especially for SH3, one puzzle requires you to know Shakespeare on hard! SH2 is probably the easiest game in the series, and that is it's biggest flaw. It's definitely a much better experience on hard, even if a couple of b...

Re: Why does not appear all 19 ghosts of Walter victims?

If it was about bosses then Homecoming would have been the best in the series but SH is not Dark Souls. And if it WAS Dark Souls, then the bosses in SH Homecoming would still be pretty lame. No SH game ever has what I would call good boss fights, but they can be good for Silent Hill. The boss fight...

Re: Why Good+ Ending is My Canon Ending (spoilers)

None of the characters in SH are real as it is all fiction, so when people say that she is dead you know what they mean dude I think you're just being a bit silly :D (they mean the CHARACTER did not survive the events of the story). Any Fictional characters can be killed off Brother. I'm not saying...

Fine, but which of Toyama's opinions do we accept? Which of Ito's? They aren't consistent. Yes, you're absolutely right. I think which one we accept is up to us. It's interesting that Toyama has decided to change his mind on it, but I actually think that's cool... it feels in the spirit of the seri...
