Re: Silent Hill 2 - Combat Reveal Trailer
I don't know if it's hating. I think it's more likely a case of people not understanding why the original had that gritty look/feel. I think a heavy noise filter option for the remake can help achieve that feel, but I agree with others that think the game looks impressive graphically.

Re: HExadrive pitched remaking SH2 before Bloober
Well. This looked so much better for me. The lights, the environment, James being James, (and not Leon). His face is more James, but he actually looks more Leon to me here(lol he looks jacked). Also I'm not seeing it with environments. They look very BRIGHT and lack atmosphere. That's probably due ...

Re: HExadrive pitched remaking SH2 before Bloober
I see what you're saying. But it again depends... Moving SH2 to OTS or 3rd person camera is a big change, but it doesn't inherently change the essence of the game which is exploration of the town or enjoying its environments. So I don't have any issue with that. I think Downpour did fairly well swi...

Re: HExadrive pitched remaking SH2 before Bloober
What I prefer about Hexadrive's pitch, is the more 'retro' feel. The item displays, and the fact that James model here is closer if not more spot-on to the original, and in what feels like a twist, the environments, lighting and aesthetics are not overly as realistic or as detailed as Bloober's, ev...

Re: HExadrive pitched remaking SH2 before Bloober
Eh, I like how much James looks like James here, but aside from that, I'll take Bloober's version. Bloober really just needs to fix the animations and make James less blocky looking and I think it'll be fine. sigh.. At least I was never super hype for this.

Re: Silent Hill 2 - Combat Reveal Trailer
No it's not. Go back and look again. It can't grab you as it doesn't have arms to begin with. James is pushing it away as it's aggressively moving itself towards you in order to spit out it's fluid. It's no different than someone aggressively getting in your face to fight, even as you keep moving a...

Re: Silent Hill 2 - Combat Reveal Trailer
He's not being held by the lying figure, James is trying to push the enemy away from him. It's essentially forcing itself on him, but it isn't grabbing or holding him. It is indeed what is happening, but it still looks weird. If an armless figure is trying to force itself on you, you only need to t...

Re: Silent Hill 2 remake has reached the late stage of production
The trailer could be using old footage as per DuskGolem. Also it seems that a smaller team at Bloober is still working on it. I expected the 3rd person OTS action. So an action-focused trailer doesn't bother me. But what is presented does... I don't like the idea of enemies hopping over things, at ...

Re: Silent Hill 2 - Combat Reveal Trailer
Another funny detail is that he was "grabbed" by a Lying Figure, a monster without arms :o. In all fairness, in ORIGINS the Straighjackets will wrap Travis up with their legs—maybe that's what they're going for. This is true, and I imagine their is a reason as to why James is being held b...

Re: Silent Hill 2 - Combat Reveal Trailer
I don't think it was a good trailer. It answered questions for sure, but it wasn't something that made me more excited for the game. I'm just hoping the issues with the animation and combat gameplay are improved before launch.

Re: Silent Hill 2 remake has reached the late stage of production
Eh the animations look very rough. Graphics look good, but James is too stiff in his movements, plus his neck and shoulders just look off/weird. Cons: The sound effects from guns are bad. The blood splatter isn't very good. The effects from gunshots/shotgun blasts are poor. The damage detail on enem...

Re: Silent Hill 2 remake has reached the late stage of production
Konami as the publisher, would normally be tasked to market/advertise this game, but Bloober Team should have their own marketing manager and PR rep in-house that handles news/updates, etc. If Konami has explicitly told them to keep hush then that's sort of concerning. If there's no news at TGA the...

Re: How is combat going to be handled?
The Eddie fight should definitely get changed into a good cat and mouse scenario. Make it more similar to the Ellie boss fight in TLOU2, where if you get caught it's an insta-kill. I'd rather have that over Eddie eating 20 bullets for dessert before he awkwardly falls over and dies. The only problem...

Re: Extra Content Yay/Nay/What?
I'd love less locked doors and more locations to explore in town. They don't need to be key areas where you'll spend an hour or two, but a few more shops around the town being available to enter for items and monster encounters.

Re: Homecoming vs Downpour
>"Pendleton *awkward long pause*........... Get on the bus!"< That was incredibly clunky. Like, what was she getting at there? After having not played either since they were released, and relying solely on playthroughs, I think I now prefer HOMECOMING over DOWNPOUR, though that's primaril...

Re: Homecoming vs Downpour
I'm sure I posted in this thread years ago, but I'm bored and am watching a Downpour playthrough on YT atm. I know all of the SH games have cringe character dialogue, but this line will forever be the most wtf/cringe line for me: "Pendleton *awkward long pause*........... Get on the bus!" ...

Re: And... Predictably, people are already complaining.
It's only natural for people to complain. I think the remake will end up being better than the original so long as Bloober nails the gameplay and mood, with the latter being a much tougher goal imo.

Re: How is combat going to be handled?
FFS, I hope we get good combat/gameplay. Clunky/braindead combat was fine 21 years ago, but it is not acceptable today. It doesn't have to be on the level of The Last of Us 2, but it's got to feel fluid and responsive.

Re: TWO New SH Games In Development???
Kind of seemed like last weeks tweet was in relation to Death Stranding getting an official PC release date this week. I highly doubt Kojima will be involved with whatever Konami is doing with Silent Hill, but I would love to be wrong. and omg, I'm surprised to see this place still around. I hope fa...
