Re: Silent Hill in First Person

I don't really remember the last time we had a survival-horror game, on a console, that was 100% FP. You don't remember Outlast...? Also, pretty funny how people just ignore the PC as though it doesn't count. It's still a gaming platform. If horror games are flooding the PC market, they are, by ext...

Re: Someone has made quite the discovery

Looking at this from a less literal way, it could simply be trying to reinforce a theme of paranoia and distrust of others/authority figures. The wave of fear that the War of the Worlds broadcast sparked could be more important than the tale itself. I agree with this. Taking this literally is a mis...

Re: Possibility of multi-platform?

Nostalgia goggle'd side note: I know times have changed, but people weren't nearly as vocal about the importance of graphics when the PS2 was the weakest machine. Back then it seemed the importance was placed more on the strength of a console's game library and what the developers could get out of ...

Re: Silent Hill in First Person

I just named the two to refute your point about it being a long time since we've had a survival horror in 3rd person. I didn't bother to mention games like Walking Dead, Amy, State of Decay, the many RE games, Deadly premonition, etc. because I figured these were obvious examples. Doesn't matter if...

Re: Kojima: "Silent Hill S could be open world"

Personally, I'm sick of open world stuff. I don't want freedom anymore. I've had my fill of it, really. I'm not even being facetious. I prefer linearity--it results in a more focused experience with less empty, shallow filler. Take me from point A to point B, like in older SH games. Sure, there can ...

Re: Possibility of multi-platform?

I had a thought. Yes, a thought. I was thinking: if I had the "superior" console (ie. a Sonybox 720) I would gladly accept concessions if it meant other gamers got to experience Silent Hill. Wider audience, greater sales, more chance that the series lives on. And better yet, new gamers get...

Re: Lessons from the last few years

And the folks at Square enix didn't seem to have problems generating hd graphics (though I don't like any FF games and if I'm right they arent really appreciated in the hd era) As far as I know, they developed their own engine for the new FF games, and it cost them a boatload of money. Their low-ef...

Re: Possibility of multi-platform?

Well no, not really--there are a few worries there. The PS4 is a pretty underpowered machine compared to modern gaming PCs of comparable price. Even my PC, which is a good two years old and was 600 dollars, is stronger. If PS4 is the main platform then PC gamers will not be able to take full advant...

Re: Possibility of multi-platform?

My preference is that hopefully they develop for PS4 first at 30 fps and then downres the Xbone version for something suitable. As someone with a gaming PC but whose console is an Xbone, I also prefer this. Devs should always develop for the stronger console when dealing with multiplats. I think th...

Re: Pros! What the teaser has done right! ಥ⌣ಥ

Agree 100 percent with the last handful of posters. PTs biggest achievement is bringing Silent Hill back into the spotlight. I remember Downour gameplay videos would have like 8000 views at their peak, and a ton of dislikes. Now we're seeing PT videos with 500,000 views, and mostly likes. Big name L...

Re: Lessons from the last few years

I think SH does need a larger budget at this point, as jdnation stated. The old games weren't cobbled together with a tiny budget. They were pretty well funded, I believe, and this shows in the visual department. Only recently has SH as a series been pawned off to the dev teams willing to spend the ...

Re: Cons! What the teaser could have done better! ಠ益ಠ

Just to speak to the point about the canon--I feel like a little bit of cult canonicity would be a good thing at this point. The series has gone too far in the "subjective reality" direction and I think the town needs some grounding, so to speak. Murphy's Silent Hill was all over the place...
