I haven't played all of them, just need to try Homecoming and Downpour then I've completed the series. But from what I see here I'm surprised to see so many people saying SH3 is there personal worst.. I know it's their opinion but that game is definitely my favorite so far.

Uhm, not really. Many of them seem to labelize SH3 as their favorite.
Actually, here are the stereotypes (now, I'm heading directly towards death). There was always present the eternal idolization of SH2 by the majority. But in the same time, the second place always went to SH3. SH2 fans usually don't quite enjoy SH3, as it didn't bring much to the story as a whole. On the other hand, SH3 fans always loved SH2, but James was never good enough as emotional hero-Heather. Homecoming and Origins weren't usually liked by any of the parties, as Origins didn't contribute to anything and Homecoming was a blatant copy of SH2.
Nevertheless, after SM went out, from the start it became massively adored and hated at the same time. It became almost an equivalent to SH2, therefore many SH2 fans replaced James with modern Harry or as their second favorite title, in their gold cabinet next to the shining SH2 cover. Nonetheless, SH3 fans didn't prefer it much, as it was: 'Meh'- tedious crap.
And now... I lay me down to sleep, I pray the lord my soul to keep, If I should die before I wake, I pray the lord my soul to take

I know I've done this before, but it's time for an update.
Favorite SH Game: Silent Hill Least Favorite SH Game: Silent Hill 4: The Room Favorite Protagonist: Heather Least Favorite Protagonist: Henry Favorite Supporting Character: Too many to choose, so I'll go with one from each game: Lisa, Maria, Douglas, Eileen, Kaufman, Adam, and Anne. Least Favorite Supporting Character: Laura. She's such a snotty little bitch, I can play SH2 a million times and I'm never going to like her. I don't like Cynthia either. Favorite antagonist: I chose either Walter or Pyramid Head before, but now I'm kind of leaning towards the town itself. Least favorite Antagonist: Claudia, because she reminds me of those people who approach me at the mall and try to convert me. Favorite Monster: Closers, siams, puppet nurses/doctors, double heads, and of course good ol' triangle face. Most of the monsters from SH1 and SH3 are pretty cool, and I like the dolls from Downpour as well. Least Favorite Monster: all of the downpour monsters (except for the dolls and the wheelman) schisms, numb bodies, and most of the monsters from the room Favorite Soundtrack: SH1 Favorite Weapon: Chainsaw and the great knife Favorite Location: Midwhich elementary, the labyrinth, no where, alternate brookeheaven, hell descent Least Favorite Location: the torture lair from Homecoming Favorite puzzles: the piano puzzle from SH1, the doll puzzle from Origins, and the stage prop puzzle from Downpour. Least favorite puzzle: that damn slider puzzle in the attic in Homecoming Favorite Otherworld: alternate brookehaven, alternate elementary school, alternate St. Maria's orphanage Favorite Boss: Scarlet Least Favorite Boss: the demon from the end of Origins. It looked like something you'd see in some fantasy RPG.

Favorite Silent Hill game: 3: The story deals with interesting moral ambiguities, and was able to bring the first game's religious aspects back up and at the same time leave them to rest, expanding on them with introspection but, thankfully, still leaving them ambiguous enough for you to draw you own conclusions. Each character is developed enough to satisfy, but still leaves room for interpretation, as with the plot itself. The atmosphere is the best of all the games, subtle and cerebral in terms of gore (or lack thereof) yet still incredibly visceral and suggestive. The soundtrack is among the best, innovating with new vocal tracks, and the entire presentation of the game is done with care, from loading screens to the saving system. Plus, it had the best unlockables of all the games, giving plenty of incentive for replay.
Least Favorite Silent Hill Game: Origins: Whereas 3 took the core mythology and expanded on it in meaningful ways and even let you play as the catalyst for the entire series, Origins features a thrown-in character who has no relevance to the town and a plot that seems more like a retcon than anything. Nothing in this game was additional material: anything it says about the mythos was said better in the original game or is in direct contradiction to what was said in the original. It did some things right, and I think the story of Travis Grady was fine, but in the end I don't think non-Team Silent productions should directly deal with the core mythos; it feels too much like tampering.
Favorite Silent Hill soundtrack: The Room: This is the only one I can listen to as an album in its own right from start to finish. I've even lent this to others even if they're not familiar with SH, and it usually makes them want to correct that. Room of Angel is my favorite track, but there are so many other good (even non-game!) songs on here.
Least Favorite soundtrack: The first: I love the intro and ending songs, and Tears Of is in my top 3 tracks of any SH album, but most of the first ST is droning and indistinguishable ambiance that seems outdated to me.
Favorite Main Protagonist: Heather: One of the few females in video games that isn't hyper-sexualized. She's sarcastic, flippant, morally ambiguous and yet, in the end, sympathetic. While most of the series has male characters brought into the town to have their mind projected on the scenery, there's something scarier about a fragile young girl being dragged in, tooth and nail, and potentially corrupted and scarred by what goes on. The claustrophobia surrounding this character is palpable, and the fact that her two fates are either growing stronger or succumbing to evil makes the journey involving her the most effective to me.
Least Favorite Protagonist: Travis: I've already went into my grievances with Origins. While I don't hate Travis per se, he's connected to the game in the series that annoys me the most.
Favorite Main Antagonist: Walter: He was the best part of The Room. The atmosphere of the fourth game is one of my favorites, disturbing and sadistic and fractured, and all of it was sprung from Walter and worked to illuminate his psyche. To top it off, he's touching in his own tragic way, which contrasts with his disturbing qualities and makes them even more effective.
Favorite Supporting Character: Maria: I played the version of SH 2 with the Born From a Wish Scenario first, and I played that right after the original SH, so she was the second playable character I experienced. I grew attached to her, in that sub-plot and in the escorts in the main portion of the game, and her constant deaths affected me. But there's also a mystery to her: she sometimes seems benevolent, sometimes malevolent, and seemingly important in a sense that you can't place until you realize what she really is. And she's not only symbolism projected from James: she's an interesting exploration into what manifestations themselves feel, opening up new layers in the town's physics. There's something heartbreaking about a self-aware vision forced to live out someone else's psychic disturbances.
Least Favorite Supporting Character: Elle: She's Hollywood pretty with B-Movie dialogue, a weak female obviously written by males who know nothing about females. She's also the worst escort-character in the series, and doesn't do anything interesting in the plot, not even in the endings that feature her. Her diary is interesting, but she's bland in-game.
Favorite Monster/Enemy: Pyramid Head: His first appearance in SH2 is foreboding, and every one of his appearances afterward have a gravity to them. I've never been more unnerved by a game enemy, and it owes to Ito's terrific design. I know he's becoming over-used in the games themselves as well as the film series, but it's for good reason: his original appearance is terrifying.
Least Favorite Monster: Asphyxia: I like the design enough, but the execution was awful. The movements are too fluid: there is nothing scary about such cartoonish movements. Plus the textures seemed muddy and under-done and the front-most torso looked too stiff. If you're going to have a centipede monster, I expect it to writhe more instead of looking like a weird tall person with a butt-tail.
Scariest Monster/Enemy: Air screamer. The rare time I saw one on its legs walking toward me, I almost cried. I don't know why, it may be the graphics being so low-key that the imagination runs wild, but its walking animation is disturbing beyond belief.
Favorite Weapon: Unlimited Submachine Gun: Really helpful and protective for when you want to just breeze through the game and enjoy the sights and cut-scenes. Plus it's just fun to use: it's hyper-powerful but you still have to master the controls.
Favorite Location/Room: Spiral Staircase: Like the holes from SH2 only better, dark and disturbing and loaded with symbolism.
Least Favorite Location/Room: Cedar Grove Sanitarium: Way too long. The set design is fine but the amount of monsters and puzzles is maddening. This portion of the game feels like a huge gap, and is one of the reasons I've replayed Origins the least.
Favorite Otherworld: Brookhaven Hospital: Not only does it have the best otherworld in 2, it also has the best otherworld in 3. 2's is sparse and haunting, 3's is horrific and demented, and together they create one single great place.
Favorite Cutscene: Mary's Letter: There's no other cut-scene as emotionally resonant as this one. The writing is spot-on, the delivery is spot-on, and I cry every time. My initial reaction to hearing that 2 was being re-dubbed was: "Why would you want to do that? The letter is PERFECT."
Favorite Quote: "They look like monsters to you?": The gasp heard around the world. This quote was probably responsible for 50% of SH theorists, for better or worse, and was an excellent moment of the game becoming self-aware.
