Hey,

I played the original Silent Hill when it first came out and I decided to finally give the rest of the games a go. I did complete the first and loved it, then I grew up into my teens and was too afraid to play much of the second one. same with the third and never got a chance with the fourth.

I've got origins for the psp, Silent hill for the Playstation, Silent hill collection (2,3 and 4) for the playstation 2 and i'm going to pick up the new ones hopefullly soon.

In order to get the best idea of the story, which order should I play them in? Should I simply go origins>1>2>3>4>Homecoming>Shattered memories? Also, am I missing any silent hill games?

Thanks so much for any help.

Well, 0rigins, SH1, + SH3 are all of the same story line, so if you're going in that direction, you might want to play 0rigins>SH1>SH3, then 2>4>Homecoming>SH:SM. Alternately, you could go SH1>SH3>0rigins, since 0rigins is more of a backstory to the original sorta thing.

Depends on which way you wanna go with it though.

The order you play the games in doesn't matter. At all.

The only thing I would advise you to do would be to play 1 before 3. Other than that, you can pretty much pick a game at random.

I'd say you should play them in the order that they were released. 1, 2, 3, 4, 0, 5, SM.

Well, I would recommend playing them in release order. SH1, SH2, 3, 4, Origins, Homecoming, Shattered Memories.

You may need to replay SH1 first, if it's really been so long.

Yeah I agree. Playin' them in their release order is the best way to go.

You should play Origins, 1, 3, Shattered Memories, and then 2, 4, Homecoming.

No way. There's references in SH3 and Shattered Memories that require knowledge of SH2 and SH4.

Fine, then you should play SH2, SH4, Homecoming, 1, 3, 0, then Shattered Memories.

IDK, it doesn't really matter, just play 1 before 3, and 0 and SM after 1. Other than that I don't think it matters too much. Just play 2 ASAP :)

I'm part of the "releaes order" school of thought.

Yeah, release order. Playing either Origins or 3 before the first is going to take away a lot of mystery and it just won't seem as awesome. If you play out of order you may not get the neat little references made to past games, either.

That's silly. Do you think he has the memory of a goldfish and can't play the "Alessa/Cheryl" story without other games inbetween?

Like almost everyone said. . . Play in the order of release: SH1, SH2, SH3, SH4, SH Origins, SH Homecoming and then SH Shattered Memories.

Well you said 2 and 4 need to be played in order to understand the references in 3 and SM.

I agree with playing them in the order in which they were released. That's the order i played them in, anyway.
