 Post subject: Silent Hill Question!

I had a choice to get Silent Hill 2, 3, or 4 off E-Bay. I picked Silent Hill 3, did I make the right choice? Maybe I should have gotten 2..

Storywise they each present a plot unrelated to the others, so no harm done. You can play them in whatever order you like, if that's your question.

Personally, i would've get SH 2. . .
But , just like B5160-R posted; there's not a needed order for those, so it's ok.

I fully enjoyed part three but you should get part two when you get the chance. It's very emotion driven compared to 3 & 4. It will mess with your mind in a good(?) way. haha

Yep, should've gotten 2. Too late now to avert the massive fail.

3 was a good choice, though I think 2 is better.

Damn straight, Sim. I have yet to find a game with as much emotional/intelligent/cryptic content as Silent Hill 2. It's in a league of it's own and not even the mighty, action heavy Resident Evil 2 comes close.

Simon :)

Agreed, Silent Hill 3 has only some of the factors that make Silent Hill 2 one of the best video games of all time. In fact, it is still praised and compared to many survival-horror games of this generation.

wasn't there a thread just like this? But anyway 3 is the best its easily the scariest 2 was great also but as far as disturbing psychological horror goes 3 can't be fucked with. Also Heather>James

There were about twelve threads identical to this, because the OP thought posting it in each part of the forum would be a good idea.

I thought you did fine. It's not like you won't be able to buy SH2 later on.

Sh4 splits the fanbase. Some like it, some dislike it.

SH3 wasn't a bad choice, might be slight confused if you haven't played SH1, but seemed like you had, so it should be a good experience. It's also the shortest of them all (at least for me when I played it) so it's a great game to test whether you'll like the game play etc.

If you do like it though, like many people here I will recommend SH2, the best game in the series IMHO.

If you're just looking for one of the series to see what it's like, SH3 isn't a bad choice at all. SH4 would have been the worst to start off with IMO. It doesn't have the exploration of the others. I liked SH3's protagonist the best, however, the storyline is related to SH1.

The best choice would have been SH2 for storyline, town exploration, and characters. But if you like SH3, no doubt you'll want to pick up SH2 later on.
