I think it's time we get a Silent Hill with fun co-op. I could totally see that happening. Anyone else agree?

Silent Hill is about isolation. Pretty much everyone agrees that the biggest problem with The Room and Homecoming was succumbing to Plucky Sidekick Disorder.

I wouldent mind a Co-op silent hill, as long as it had a good storyline to back it up.

Well, I was thinking that the game would still be split screen, but the two players would be in different areas, and when they travel to an area the other person was in, they would find traces of what that person was doing. (Still don't get it? Say you're playing with your sister. You're playing in a hotel, you're sister is playing in the hospital. You both are still on the same T.V., but in different areas. You take a health drink and bump into a table that you accidentally move while in the hotel dining room, kinda like Homecoming. Twenty minutes later, you're in a different part of the hotel, your sister makes it out of the hospital and into the hotel dining room, and sees the spot where the health drink should be, and a table that has been moved). Eventually you meet up, then split up, and yah....

I don't like the idea of co-op, but multiplayer that doesn't involve co-operation? That might be fun.

Think of if Silent Hill 2 had one player as James, one as Eddie, etc., each meeting only on occasion, otherwise seeing things totally different from one another.

Are you kidding me? No. Please, no. Save this sort of thing for action/adventure horror games.

I agree with Ryan regarding this issue. Separate co-op...that's probably the best sort of co-op you can have.

Of course, I'd still rather just have single-player with the ability to play as multiple characters (or maybe even being able to switch characters as you please).

Nah. No. Maybe, but nah. The game is all about scaring the shit out of you and having a companion won't cut it. But good suggestion though, it's just not the right genre.

This, if anything of the sort at all. If not this, then no, never at all. Silent Hill is best left without the RE5 sort of gameplay.

A friend said: "What if it was like Left 4 Dead? By some time paradox, the four players were Henry, Heather, Harry, and James and they had to go through some Silent Hill level?"

I for one, don't think a SH multiplayer game would be good.

Multiplayer Silent Hill would be the worst thing of worst things. Seriously. The game is about being isolated and all OH GOD I AM ALONE IN A HORRIBLE PLACE.

The SH1 custom campaign for l4d works, but really only as single-player. The only way it works with 4 is if everyone knows what they are doing.

Trying to coordinate 4 people in a game like silent hill would be very hard (think of the puzzles, or should I say, the possible elimination of them), or it would just be an FPS. (mindless running and gunning) I don't think Silent Hill should be an FPS.

I wouldn't mind having, say, SH: The Arcade ported to Wii. I'm not opposed to the idea of having Silent Hill monsters put into a multiplayer action-ish setting, provided the main series remains all about psychological horror.

I can't see any form of multiplayer working well for Silent Hill.

No.

Part of me wants to scream "HELL FUCKING NO", but then I can't, because honestly, I had a lot of fun playing the Arcade game, and Maria and Eileen were both fun characters.

....Wheeler and Elle not so much.

I agree with most of you, I think the series should stay single player.

But if they did come out with a multiplayer silent hill, I would trash talk it a lot...and then go buy it and play it, just because I love silent hill so much that I can't ignor one of the games, even if I know I wont like it

I really like this idea.

Yea, it's actually REALLY fun, and the story's honestly fairly decent. Change the monsters around to be more personal, cut out the useless characters that are just there to rescue for bonus points, and flesh out the plot so it's longer than two hours or whatever, and you have a praise-worthy entry to the series.

That would be interesting! Not the same "Silent Hill" as before, but I definitely wouldn't mind having it be a shooter/arcade shooter provided the storyline is still a total mindfuck.

EDIT: Well, that and that the series doesn't devolve into simply that. It'd have to be side-stories.
