It's a very nice map.

It's very nice, but the South Park area is in the wrong place. The road that connects to it on the left is meant to be Bachman.

See what I mean?

Hmm...but then in the Book of Lost Memories...what is the road it shows in that area? http://www.translatedmemories.com/bookp ... reaMap.jpg

I may do a little more research and try to fit it... O:! But would that mean Old Silent Hill is between two rivers? In the image you posted, there is a river to the west of Bachman Rd. In Silent Hill 1, you must cross another river to the east to reach the Shopping District.

EDIT: Based on the Book of Lost Memories, it looks like I got the area correct. If you compare the general layout of the two.

My guess is that the river bends. And really, when the SH1 maps clearly show Bachman as being there, I'll take that at face value. Also, it would make sense for Toluca Avenue to be on the lake.

EDIT: The Lost Memories map shows the same connection I'm talking about. Look at the two places marked with "B" and an arrow.

The map ignores the placement of Overlook Prison from Homecoming.

Which still hasn't been explained in any satisfactory way, BTW.

I didn't place it there because it contradicts other games, so I believe it does not exist there. Only for Alex in Homecoming. It's the same for Grand Hotel.

Tom Hullett has explained Overlook Penitentiary's location in HOMECOMING.

This thread. PyramidFace up there.

Over at SilentHillCommunity.com, Mr. Hullett wrote,
Quote:
Homecoming's Overlook doesn't exist (SH's power warped the town blah blah)

Downpour's location is its physical location.
When asked, "How so?" he answered,
Quote:
Homecoming bulldozed half the pre-existing town to have a Prison that didn't exist before then and that's ridiculous.

So when we made Downpour I placed the prison somewhere that made sense.

Well, I guess that was the easier way for explaining the weird town locations in Homecoming, blaming the town's power (It's still being weird since Silent Hill usually respects its layout, just adds holes or barricades here and there)

I said it had never been explained in a SATISFACTORY way. Not that it had never been explained.

Also, didn't Tomm at one point try to suggest that Alex went to the island instead of Central Silent Hill in Homecoming? Which is entirely contradicted by his running around other landmarks from CSH such as Alchemilla?

Now he's at least fessing up and saying it's a retcon. It's a pretty extreme one, too. Silent Hill has a way of creating locations that don't exist (The Labyrinth, the entire Otherworld in SH4), but I don't think the geography of the town presented in one game has been so thoroughly ignored in a subsequent game before.

If the intention was to retcon Homecoming out of existence, perhaps Downpour shouldn't have had so many references to it.

The intention was merely to retcon that one part of Homecoming, not the entire thing.

Mr. Hullett didn't seem to have as much as say in HOMECOMING as people blame him for. We were fortunate enough that he stepped in before Elle was officially Laura, I think we can grant him a stupid map decision by the other developers, and I think we can take that error for what it's worth—one of many bad decisions Mr. Hullett had little control over.

Because of the location of the Resort Area, I wanted to fix it...and I will also be adding in Homecoming's Grand Hotel area on Simmons Street. I started working on the fix last night, and I just finished it about 10 minutes ago. Unlike the previous map I made, there is no foggy effect on top of the map. I am unsure of how to hide the unknown portions of the map without fog, however... so any ideas will help greatly.

The image is too big for me to host on any image sharing website I know of, so I got Dropbox so I could share it with the internet: CLICK ME TO DOWNLOAD

The map is 6769x4938 and 64.9MB in size.

Shepherd's Glen should be somewhere in the top right area of the map...

Maybe... but I am unsure. If you look at the map of Shepherd's Glen below, you will see that Toluca Lake is on the northeast part of the map. This would lead one to suggest that Shepherd's Glen is to the southwest of Silent Hill. The southwest part of the lake in the map doesn't end. It does continue down that way.

That doesn't really work, though. We know what the southwest corner of Toluca Lake looks like from other maps. Nathan Avenue and West Sandford meet just on the other side of a clear narrowing of the waterway. If the water continues further southwest from there, and Shepherd's Glen is somewhere down the line, it wouldn't make sense for them to still be calling the water Toluca Lake. The narrowing of the waterway would change its designation from a lake to a river, I would think. Even if the water broadens to lake-like proportions past that narrow spot, it wouldn't still be called Toluca Lake, would it? It would be a lake of a different name entirely.

This. Homecoming isn't being rewritten out of the storyline. The prison swap was just to change a mistake. That's all, Droo. You're putting too much though into something like this. Stop taking it so seriously.
