Heaven?

Heaven?
I was reading an interview before, and he was talking about all of the dimensions we would see [As in "foggy" and the "otherworld", and the past. ] He also said heaven would be shown, only for a short time though. I can't figure out what this "heaven" is. Any ideas? [Sorry if this has been discussed, I ran a search and it didn't come up with anything.]

Haha, yeah, that's what I originally thought. I don't know, hopefully when [if they do] release a collector's edition DVD, Christophe will tell us everything about his version of Silent Hill. Including this "heaven" business.Amy wrote:Well...isn't there a point when Rose goes through a door and everything goes white? Maybe that's it lol
Forgive me..but I haven't watched the movie in a few monthes.
One could perhaps argue that they're in "Heaven" at the end of the film. Not for Rose, but for Alessa. No monsters, no more pain, just her mother and her.
Since the movie screwed up pretty much everything regarding the nature of the Otherworld, Foggy Silent Hill, and The Order, it's difficult to apply knowledge of the games in figuring stuff like this out.

I agree with drewfus. I discussed this with my friends after watching the movie. We came to the same conclusion. We also were discussing wether Rose and Cybil died at the beginning. because it seems the crash they both had is involved with them being taken by silent hill and Gucci and ... Boromir (sorry, I couldnt help it lol) don't.

I wrote a really boring essay once about all this... I think that "Heaven" is depicted at the START of the film, as in, the DaSilva's Kodak-perfect life in their trendy designer house.
There's other links to follow this through, don't worry... When Rose and Sharon fall asleep under the picture postcard tree at the start of the film, they don't realise that there's a giant billboard quoting a passage from 1 Corinthians..."Do you not know that we shall judge angels?"
If the DaSilva's homeplace is "Heaven", then they're..."angels" (as it were), and as such Rose is assigned to be judged...hence her journey to Silent Hill. She fails the judgment and is found to be lacking in true faith (as she makes a pact with the demon) and so isn't allowed to return home. (There's all sorts of other clues throughout the film that only those with true faith and loyalty can return home...)
Well that's my take on it anyway. Sorry I didn't explain it very well there, but it all feeds into loads of other ideas in the film and it'd take too long to write it all out again. I would post my crappy "essay" but it seems a bit self indulgent.

Or you could see it as the light of knowledge. Rose stepped out of the darkness of being lost and ignorant to excatly what is going on. And stepping into the light of knowledge, learning everything from dark Alessa.Amy wrote:Well...isn't there a point when Rose goes through a door and everything goes white? Maybe that's it lol

I would very much like to read your essay. I noticed that billboard but never saw anything posted about it. Also I think there's a verse above the doors in the school when they first go in. I can't remember if it's the front doors or what, but I remember one being there.
love walked alone
the rocks cut her tender feet,
and the brambles tore her fair limbs.
there came a companion to her,
but, alas, he was no help,
for his name was heart's pain.
