Is the film very bloody/gory?

Post by evil doll »

I need to know. I havent watched it yet, and I am quite sqeemish I want to see it, it's just I don't know whether or not I'll regret it. The main thing I need to know is DOES IT HAVE ANY VOMITING/ BEING SICK IN IT? Because I can't stand that, no matter what. I don't know why games don't really scare me, and I don't mind blood or gore in that, but live action, I'd just puke up myself. I don't like alot of bloob/ gore. Especially gore. A little bit I don't mind, like the obvious SH style shooting zombies, blood covered creatures, bloody environments - turning into the dark SH. But alot of slow or excesive gore and I'm out.
Saw another thread called gore, gore, gore and wondered what they meant by skin ripping.

I just need advise, that's all. Thanks.

Yes you will puke. Don't watch it if you easily get sick.

There is...
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
skin being ripped off and death by barbed-wire-through-weird-places, charred flesh and limbs being ripped away.
That's about the worst of the gore.

Yeah. There are definitely more than a few "disturbing images" in the Silent Hill movie, but it's no Hostel or Saw if that's what you're worried about.

The movie has a few scenes of strong gore in it, but its mostly based on noises, or graphic monsters.

It's more horror that gore, but there are just some scenes, that...

The movie has only 2 parts that i can think that you might have a problem with. Besides those its just monster shooting gore and the bloody environment of the reverse side as far as i can remmember, but you probably shouldn't take my word because i suspect i left something out.
Also Skinripping refers to a certain part that involves the almighty Pyramid Head, so you can kind of get a good idea of what went down, but its a pretty brief part so you may or may not have a problem with it (it's my favorite part :D ).

I think if you can handle the games, you can handle the movie. Especially since you won't be seeing it in a theatre-- most of its visual effect is lost on a TV screen.

There's also a part when
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Some miners get eaten alive by roaches, you see a badly(!!!) burned Alessa, and when some nurses carve each other up....

If you do not want it spoiled, do NOT open the spoiler (duh...)

If you want to be prepared for whats to come, look at your own discretion.

A monster encounter:

Ripping:

Thats is not made for that!:

Again, these pciture might spoil the movie for you. But ive taken special care to hide them from plain sight. I don't want to be held responsible if you are to open them and spoil your movie experience.

Of corse it is gory, would it have made so much money in theater if it wasn't?
It is hollywood, isn't it?

As someone who has a weak stomach for violence (walked out of SAW III......twice!), I actually find Silent Hill to be "meh" in the gore department. The ending sequence is pretty bloody, but it's so quickly cut and over-the-top that it made little impact on me.

Well it depends what gets to you, doesn't it?

I mean, Hostel has practically nil gore in it, and yet does have a couple of brief torture scenes... Similarly with the Saw films, it's more the idea of the torture scenes which is harrowing rather than any visual violence.

Whereas Silent Hill just shows all and sundry. Hooray!

Honestly I found the end sequence to be a lot like Kill Bill Vol. 1 in that there is such a ridiculous amount of blood and gore that it loses any power it might have to gross you out/scare you. But that's me. Gore doesn't really bother me anyway, strangely, while horror and jumpout scares do. Go figure.

Same with me. The more which is shown (gore wise), the more fantastical and unreal it becomes. It's just when they don't show stuff and the imagery is left in your own mind that it seems nasty... (eg, Cybil being beaten to a pulp off screen is worse than Alessa's massacre at the end of the film, I think.)

I take it you haven't seen SAW III.

I'm with Adrasteia in that the ending sequence is so Kill Bill-ish it completely fails to do what I think it was attempting to do.

Then again, no one has even given Roger Avary any awards for subtlety....
