The topic of the thread seems to have changed, but as to the original idea (Sean Bean looking like James)...

I think that Cameron Diaz would hurt the atmosphere at a severe degree, she's got too much Hollywood spotlight on her tail and that will affect or view upon her caracterization.

What I loved about the actors of SH1 was tha they where somewhat known, but they addesd so much caracterization to the movie, I felt that the actors where and essense to the identity of the first Silent Hill movie.

But there's something about Mary...

Cameron would look great, but I agree with Chrism, it would just sort of ruin the unknown-ness of the actors. Sean Bean is a well known actor, but isn't close to popularity between him and Cameron Diaz. But...I think she is a good actress who would pull off an excellent Mary/Maria.

for the record, The picture of Christina Aguilera in question:

That was taken in 1999. SH2 was not released until 2001. They totally ripped off her outfit. Down to the damn belt/belly chain!

eckhart totally fits the bill for me. but it's odd that this was mentioned:

i watched slither for the first time today and found myself comparing this actor to james. weeeird. but like i said in another thread, i just pray that they don't screw up and have the main characters played by some shitty actors; or if they do plan to follow the sh2 storyline and don't do it exactly i'll probably cry.

Someone on the IMDb thought this guy could play him. http://imdb.com/name/nm0340408/

Personally, as an actor, I'd love to play James.

Sean is like 4 years older than Joel. They both look similar if you ask me.

Agreed. Aaron Eckhart is THE perfect James Sunderland. Should have used him in the movie instead of Sean Bean.
Im thinking if christopher gans does make a sequel, they will follow along the lines of silent hill 2,by continuing the story as sean bean searching for his daughter and wife.dnt know if that made any sense.

the thing is if they get another actor for the role of james would they have to change the whole story line to make it have no relation to the first.......it's just better if they can keep the actors

Yes, most definitely. Otherwise people would automatically make the connection from of Sean Bean's role in the first movie directly to the second movie.

New actors = new story not connected to the first
