I noticed the door thing. A lot of things in the reverse side turn into worn, eroded metal so i think thats what happened. Probably helped make the scraping of ph's knife more nerve racking.
While on the subject on that part i was a bit mad that ph could'nt rip the door of its hinges. I think this has been discussed and it probably would've ended the movie but if he can rip someone in half he could pull that rusty pipe out of the way.

I think that Cybil does not have a will to live whenever I view this scene.
Two wrongs don't make a right, but it sure as h*ll makes it even!

Oh, i think the movie lived up to the game in more ways than that. The dialogue, the use of many awkward dei ex machinis comes to mind.
I can't believe i earned 10 Silent Hill cash for this.

Yeah, but could a butter knife stab and cut through canvas easily like that one did?
Another thing that got me was the fact that ph didn't follow them into the church.
Well actually, that makes sense. The church is their sanctuary, and until the end, it (and their ignorance) keeps the darkness out. Pyramid Head only comes with the darkness in the movie, so why wouldn't he be kept out as well?

As for Cybil not having a will to live... that doesn't seem right. We can't be sure of her reasons for not going into the elevator- maybe it would only take the one who "the demon" wanted to come? Or maybe she wanted to give Rose a few extra minutes? Regardless, she continued to fight after that, and continued attempts to stop the group even while tied up.

The pipe was caught in the "petals" of metal that PH had opened up at the edges of the hole he made. pretty stupid actually... he should have attacked the door at the hinges instead.

BTW, the fogworld environment is vastly different from the dark Otherworld. Didn't you notice the alley scene after teh Grey Children disappeared? the chain-link fences became board fences, to the surprise of Rose when she came out of the bowling alley.

I was pointed out to me yesterday that the games are like that when the worlds change that everything takes on different forms and substances, kinda like Soul Reaver, when Raziel goes from one world into the other. Except in both instances in SH both worlds just change substance.

I would certainly hope so! I was reminded of this film I went to see that sucked badly called The Return. It's simuliar to The Grugde and SH when it came to the parallel dimension thing and that the main character was looking for clues involving her past. In fact you won't believe how the character gets to the town . . . . by accident!

You know, I kinda liked the scene with the Lying Body. Cybil shot it after it spit her, and it SPLATED. The rest of the movie doesn't live up to that scene. :?
The elevator scene with Cybil, to me, looked very clearly like she was throwing her life away. She was fighting them fine before, stabbing them good (including one guy in the back of the neck, a wtf moment if there ever was one, considering all of the cult assholes are perfectly fine after the elevator closes), and then she just clicks her empty gun at Christabella and stands there smiling without defending herself as the cultists beat the shit out of her.
I can understand Rose not fighting, and she DID arm herself once or twice. She just never bothered to actually, ya know, fight.

You know what pissed me off about that scene? If it were me in Cybil's place I would've let them think that my gun was loaded and ordered them to back up so that I can get away or took Cristabella hostage until I was in the clear, but noooooooooo she just had to click the gun now did she? Sorry for saying but if you do something that stupid in a situation where you have the upper hand, you deserve to get your ass beat! I love Cybil, but that shit was just stupid. Oh did anyone notice the three boxes merge into one in the archive scene? I found this funny, Christopher took out one box, goes in for another and rumages through it. Goes in for another and begins looking through that one, finds what he's looking for in the last box. The camera zooms out and now there is only one box on the table. Is this some sort of homage to the coins puzzle in SH2 or is this another one of those really bad flubs?

It was a montage-esque scene of him searching for the records. It would make sense that when he was done with a box he took it back or put it on the floor.

I agree, that was pretty fucking stupid. Well, assuming she knew she didn't have any bullets left and by the look on her face i'd guess she knew. Granted, she didn't have much chances outside -she couldn't go to the church anymore- what with the Pyramid Head waiting there and all that. She could've gone with Rose maybe but maybe she thought she deserved to die after being such a "stupid fucking cop" in the beginning, i sure did. They all deserved to die. Except Chris and Kauff- eh, Officer Gucci. They we're cool. And Pyramid Head.
I can't believe i earned 10 Silent Hill cash for this.

Maybe Cybil pulled the trigger because she wanted the satisfaction of seeing them realize they'd been scared of an unloaded gun.

as i already pointed out earlier... The writer just wants an excuse to burn Cybil at the stake. Leave it at that.

I regard Cybil in the light of a sacrifice. If you'll recall, in Dogma, death was required to solidify the triumph of Good. Religious traditions have a history of including cyclical death and rebirth stories. Perhaps in order for Rose to be reborn without fear, as the instrument of Alessa's revenge, or for Alessa to be rejoined with Sharon following her triumph, a sacrifice had to be made, and Cybil volunteered. I prefer to think of her as heroically self-sacrificial as opposed to foolish or acting pointlessly.

Back on topic, please. :) I'd have wanted to pick up anything I could to hit with, too!

The second time I watched it I was becoming aware of that...Think I would have picked that up or why doesn't she go there or do this...I got flustered.

If you recall, Dogma also made fun of movies with ridiculous mystic rules justifying plot twists whereas Silent Hill was one.
