those annoying sirens

I see your point, SilentMadness, though I've never been annoyed by them myself & thought they sounded pretty good in the movie.

And it's actually a bit eerie when the pitch is held longer. (I don't remember noticing frequent changes in pitch length, like in the bathroom scene you mentioned, but I remember when it was particularly long.)

The sirens only annoyed me when they were really loud! I also noticed the differences of the timing of the noise. I wonder if that was intentional or not. I still don't know how the people programmed it to go off right when the darkness was coming.

I didn't really care for them in the movie...It didn't really appeal to me like they did in the game. I mean in SH1 it was there, but a little more subtle and mysterious. In the movie it was kinda in you face and obnoxious...like there was no...I don't know...v_v

I am annoyed with how the extended the sound of the siren for the church scene just cause they wanted to fit alot in to that scene. They should have thought of something better. It seems it goes off for about 2 full minutes before "the darkness" comes

^yep, 2 minutes for the church scene, 30 seconds for the bathroom scene, another 20 seconds for the alleyway scene...you think they would have some sort of consistant system by now

It's pretty clear they sound off the siren the moment they see animals acting up, so there's really no inconsistency with their system.

Correct. It would be the inconsistancy with how long it takes the otherworld to come to be. Now that's the real question, why it would take longer different times.

I always figured the animals are constructs of Alessa's, created to warn the cultists so she can chase after them. Despite the ultimate inconvenience, she clearly enjoys the cat and mouse game.
