Personally, I think the movie was great! I'll admit I'm biased because I've never played the games, but it was still really good!
I guess a way to make the next movie better is to keep it truer to the games though... I don't know how much symbolism there was in the movies, but after checking around I'm kinda dissapointed they didn't make up any new monsters for it... Still, that's my only complaint. The link you posted had some good points that I have to agree with though.

I agree with some stuff. Limiting CGI and trying to do more real effect I'm definitely into. That lying figure could not have been better, and it cause they had an actor in a latex suite. And I'd love to see some mannequins in the nexy film
However, bring back nurses? So bored of them now. Using music from the game was good in places, but ultimately felt a bit lazy. And making it look less movie like is all wrong. Silent Hill gets it's looks from movies, and is essentially an interactive movie type experience. I think the first film got the visuals pretty much perfect. But yeah perhaps though the use of suggestion tone it down a little and make it look a bit more grown up.

The nurses served their purpose and fit in well with the movie story line....I don't think they bring them back however...how many damn people have nurses in their lives anyway.
But I liked the way it was shot though. It being close to the game didn't feel lazy to me I though it paid the correct homage.

I don't think the movies should stay too close to the games. It'd be better if it kinda told it's own new stories and played around with the mythos on its own and explored some new things... mind you not so totally removed from the atmosphere and games style. I don't consider Pyramid Head of the movie to be the same as the games, in much the same way that the movie started off with Rose and not Harry. Let them make changes as they see fit to make the movie better, so what if Pyramid Head is James monster in the games? It can serve as a different origin and thematic element for the movies and the stories they try to tell.

I didn't have a problem with the dialogue as such XD The main thing I would like to see changed, is not to have EVERYTHING so dark- now I know silent hill is a dark, creepy place but that scene with the grey children? They got the actress to completely suit up in a body suit, really detailed, but the movie is so over darkened during that scene that you can't see ANY costume /monster detail- it's a real shame. Show some more of the details that were worked on so hard, that'd be my main change.

In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.

THe only thing that would make a Silent Hill 2 movie better is not making it. The first one wa mediocre at best, and while it had good moments, there was too much that I didn't like for one reason or another. I don't really want to see a second one.

I actually kinda agreed with all of those recommendations. However, the grainy could be REALLY good or REALLY bad. I would stick with the quality they used because if they messed up at all with the grainy filter, it would totally ruin the movie completely.
I would like to see people actually live in the next movie, seeing as how on all the good, canon endings on the games, they all lived (or so im lead to believe so far). Pyramid head shouldn't be in it, like he said, seeing as how it was just part of James' way of punishing himself. Perhaps they could use the Butcher in origins though? Definitely should use more noises though. That's the main thing that freaks me out in the games. It gets so loud you can't even focus.
But hey, it's kinda impossible to make a sequel out of how fucked up the ending in the first one is. Sure, the ending in the first game means absolutely nothing in the second. But for american audiences, they want it to connect directly. And if they did connect it, the movie would be so far fetched that it's doubtful it would be entertaining.
Just my two cents

Ok, even so, it would be awkward to try to explain to an audience that wants blood and gore right away that, seeing as how people who haven't played the game may believe she's dead.
I would love to see an SH2, but not one thats tied into SH1 (kinda like the games)
Or maybe they could do it, using some SH2 stuff. Perhaps Christopher (Sean Bean) could receive a letter from Rose?

I think they should focus more on the otherworldly aspects of Silent Hill. If they do the monsters as well as they did in the first movie, I will be very happy. I hope to see the Closers, and Mannequins especially. It would be pretty interesting to see the Pendulum too!
I dreamed I lay in a dark valley and all around me were the titanic forms of archangels. I heard distant voices and I knew these supernatural warriors were chanting a litany...
"We are the Warriors at the End of Time. We are the lost, the last, the unkind. We are the Warriors on the Edge of Time and we're tired, we're tired... We're tired of making love..."
Well, I loved the movie even though some parts had me baffled. o_o The dialogue: not so good. The monsters: excellent. Besides including Pyramid Head for no apparent reason. He had no significance what so ever. If he had some correlation to the plot I wouldn't mind so much. I thought the time line was a little fudged up too. All in all, I still loved it. The janitor made a nice lil addition.
AGREED. I'd love to see them in the next film!I hope to see the Closers, and Mannequins especially. It would be pretty interesting to see the Pendulum too!

I agree with a lot of the points. I don't know how to describe it but the first movie looks too slick and, well, too much like a glossy Hollywood movie. You know, too "perfect" visually. Like the lighting an makeup is always just right, the dialogue is movielike, etc. The grainyness might be a good idea, in moderation. No CGI, absolutely agree. More dark, ugly, dirty look. See Candyman.
The music is one thing i disagree on completely, i think it was used badly. They need to use the pretty songs that everyone loves less and more of the industrial atmosperic stuff that actually adds to the creepy scary feel.
Crank up the noise, well i agree and disagree with this. There definitely should be a scarier soundscape than in the first one, but the monsters in the games are pretty Silent which in a way is pretty scary. Of course the loud industrial noise music from the first game would be great in places where the protagonist gets overrun by monsters.
I agree that surprise twists are probably not needed.

I can't believe i earned 10 Silent Hill cash for this.

^I liked that too.
The next movie...hmmm.... Well to start, no churches full of crazies. Isolation is key. Make the movie with maybe, at max 6-7 people. I didn't like who many people where in SH4. Less is more, people.
I have no idea if this is just going to be an extent of the first movie or an adaptation of one of the other games, but if it is the latter, I would prefer if the stuck to the game plot a little more. The first movie only had the splitting of the soul and the manifestation of Alessa's fears in common of the game, respectively. The next movie should strive to adhere a little more with the key points, as well as the smaller, though crucial plot twists.

If they ever start making Silent Hill 2 [The Movie] please change the visuals. I know people have seen movies like Se7en and Fight Club and the visuals there are beautiful, while still casting that dark, grimy feel. A Silent Hill film with that type of visuals would look astounding. If its filmed right of course. Also a original Akira soundtrack would do wonders.
