I believe she was killed that way because alessa wanted to shed her of her "purity", in a sense.

or could it have been because Gans wanted a super violent revenge scene for the audience?

I'm going with Option A.
"That town. That God forsaken town. It just, keeps, calling me back..."

I think Alessa did it as a response to Christabella's babbling about staying pure and all that jazz.

Alessa did it because Christabella never helped her even as she screamed while being raped by the janitor. It may also deal with purity, but there are too many symbolisms in the film pointing to Alessa's rape to ignore that.

i dont know if alessa was "raped' i think she was definitely molested though.

And that is a really good point. Almost like payback, or "heres how this felt".

If thats the case, maybe she was raped. :/

Pretty much all the answers here are right.
i dont know if alessa was "raped' i think she was definitely molested though.
Is there a difference? Unless you're implying that Alessa was totally getting down with Colin all giddy-like, it was rape.

No, rape is forced penetration, molestation is unwanted fondling of genitalia.

I think the scene where PH thrusts his massive sword through the door at Rose and Cybil strongly implies that Alessa was indeed raped.

I know your analysis may be a bit out there, but i can see where your coming from, i dont thin they would symbolize that much though. We are talking about a child.

I guess it might have to do with that purity thing, but, I was kinda just thinking that it was pretty much just intended to be a violent death.
Although, that purity thing is a good possibility.

Honestly, I think that's just a ridiculous thing to say. Do you really think that by merely shoving a big knife through a door to kill them, that it was supposed to symbolize that, or anything even?
Uhhh, he's trying to kill them.

You might as well say that when some nurse is carrying a big steel pipe around, that's supposed to symbolize...you know.

don't speak for all females on that, because "c*nt" is one of my favorite insults.

anyway, implying that alessa was raped is ludicrous. i've said it before - you guys would make freud jealous with your theories.
