Cybil

Post by FatalFrame »

I did a search, found nada.

Anyway, what did you think of Cybil's character in the movie? I liked her later but why is she such a bitch to Rose to begin with? There's absolutely no reason for her to be pulling Rose over and Sharon doesn't look like she's with Rose by force. So, just your thoughts, please.

I agree, something must've really pissed her off, like her broken bike or Rose who just minutes (?) ago was speeding away from her cop-lights. She felt like Cybil for me, the looks and the feel.. the lines? Yeah.

She's a West Virginia redneck cop. Rose should be happy she wasn't black.

Having dealt with a child kidnapping before, Cybil is naturally suspicious of Rose when she overheard Sharon crying in the parking lot of that diner. The fact that the previous kidnapper also brought the victim to Silent Hill doesn't help Rose's case.

What Allure said. Also, Cybil was perfect. Wouldn't change a thing.

Cybil is my fav character in the movie! She's a badass chick and I didn't mind that she was rude in the beginning. I understand why though. She had to deal with that sick fuck that dropped that boy into a mine shaft in SH. She didn't know if Rose was a crazy person, since it seemed that lotsa people like that only went there since it was burned down. I wish she had more ammo in the movie though. =/ Her action scenes were cool and it was sweet of her to help Rose out without worrying about herself. She couldn't leave anyways, so....why not? I was really upset the way she died. It was so disturbing watching it. It was also funny when she was swearing a lot. "What the fuck is going on!?" Hell, I'd be saying "what the fuck?" every five seconds If I was there too.

I just thought it was kind of a radical shift between her handing Harry a gun (which I'll admit was uber-unrealistic) and telling him to be careful to pulling over a woman who hadn't done anything. Don't get me wrong, once she warms up a bit I loved her and it pissed me off that they killed her. I really think she could have squeezed in the elevator too. I just didn't het why she was pulling her over in the first place. But now that reminded me about the other boy (and mea culpa that I should've needed reminding) it makes more sense. The only other thing that bugged me was her reaction to the chopped off piece of road. Anyone, no matter how police-y jaded they are is going to think that's bizarre.

Well she's a cop. Cops I assume are just a bit protective/over protective sometimes. You can't trust anyone. Sure Rose said she was Sharon's mother, but Cybil doesn't know that and doesn't want to take risks. Sharon was crying, taken to SH, then "disappeared;" sounds suspicious... :?
When Cybil realized there was something strange going on, I think she started to trust and believe Rose. I think that's the side of her I like the best.

It's been debated on IMDb that Chris possibly put out a kidnapped child alert on Sharon. Once Cybil ran Rose's plates, she would have seen that and had ample reason to pull her over.

That's a pretty asshole thing for a husband to do but, yeah, I could see him doing that. He did freeze her cards after all. I especially think Cybil has oneof the best lines in the movie, "Mother is God in the eyes of a child."

Rose said that, no? Right at the end, when Dahlia asks why she was spared?

They both said it. Rose, at the time you just mentioned, and Cybil, at some point, before or at the point where she and Rose meet that girl...Ugh, I always forget her name. The one who gets her skin ripped off.

...Damn. I feel bad, remembering her just for that scene.
Well, I remember she was looking for food, too. =/
