i think that scene where Rose has the lighter and sees them is a rip from the beginning of the game, where Harry is trapped in the alley before he wakes up and finds cybil.Lord Stan Deluxe wrote:I think there will be two diffrent Grey Children. "Normal" (if that word fits them) ones and then burned ones when Rose reaches the final area of the movie (Nowhere??).

Some movies have so much CGI, I wonder why they didn't just animate it from scratch.
Silent Hill is obviously something that would lose much in an animated form, but certain films and movies, especially of the science fiction variety, seem like they'd just be better off. Then again, I'm a big fan of Ghost in the Shell and other anime series/movies whose only difference from box-office hits is thier visual style.
Come to think of it, Keanu Reeves is starring in a strange looking film called "A Scanner Darkly" whose visual style IS completely cel-shaded and oddly enough that really sets the film off with the way reality shifts around him with the movie's Drug themes.
Yeah. I'm a sucker for animation. If you asked me to translate a medium to film, I'd go with animation simply because that character IS that character, not just an actor wearing thier clothes.

There are CGI for sure: the intense fog, the cockcroaches, the alternate world. But not heavy on monsters I assume.

The movie is full of CGI (bugs, rust, etc...).
The creature effects are mostly done by people in suits, but sometimes they're touched up with CGI. For instance, the children that people are talking about in this post have some highlight areas on their sides that are smoldering like hot coals.
The CGI is there, but it isn't overwhelming like other monster flicks. It does its job by enhancing what is already on screen.

That's fine as long as you don't overly describe how they look or talk about their role/context, etc.pwn3d91 wrote:Well now we know, it's both! (is that a spoiler O_o)

Re: the gray children
i agree... in the comm... the second pic and the 3rd pic were in it... but no in the movie... how... and y... did they change them??? i think they looked much scarier b4... they dont look as scary nowthe man in the planet wrote:i hope this hasn't been posted before. i really, really looked (lord knows i've been reposting other people's finds a lot lately
i noticed there's a big difference in how the gray children looked in the very first actual trailer and how they've looked in the recent spots. in the first one they looked like they were burning or smouldering where now they just look grey and blobby. much more apparent in motion.
like they haven't added the effects to the other shots (or maybe they aren't the same creature?) or maybe in different part of the film? looks like the environment is different, but i'd guess (from the game) it's the opening part in the alley. unless they attack her again in the school?
Theres only one way out of life and thats... death
Stop spreading this around. First of all it's completely obvious that EVERY creature was CGI enhanced, and of course the roaches were completely CGI - there was a ton of CGI in this film. What he said was, and this is still a good thing - that they had people act it out first. It's like you use motion capture for CGI only instead of that technology you get people in costumes to act it out - but unfortunately CGI has to be used to make it look better. Look at the gray children scene and I dare you to tell me that is not mostly computer animation. It's just obvious.DeathByDesign wrote:No CGI...thats what I like the most..they look awesome...and they are actual people which scares me more...
EDIT: I just scrolled up and realized I wasn't the first to say this so I appologize. But it doesn't hurt to clarify lol
If you can read this, I'll kill you.
