Official Things the Movie Did Well

Post by Archaeis »

Post here the things you think the movie did great, particularly in regard to how it related to the games.

The best part I thought was how they kept true to the separate layers of reality, the real town, foggy, and Otherworld.

Yes, especially in the beginning sequence when Rose is chasing Sharon's appartion through the alleys, they did a great job of making it look like when HArry did it.

Pyramid Head, Pyramid Head, and Pyramid Head!!!

The Otherworld environments were amazing. The captured the gritty feel of the world. The music was used well as well as the sound effects. The evil Alessa was great (the little girl, not the burned barb-wire version.) I like how she danced while Christabella's blood rained down on her. She'd kick Samara's ass anyday. The creatures were well made as well.

Did I mention Pyramid Head? When he tore Anna's skin off I nearly crapped my pants!

I really saw nothing wrong with this movie at all, it was everything I'd hoped it would be.

Yeah, the film did a lot of things well. I loved Pyramid head, loved the alternate world, the foggy/ashy silent hill, the sets, the monsters, those hot ass nurses, Lisa, the Sirens, etc.

Like i said, the film was great IMO.

Other than Session 9, Silent Hill is the only horror movie I liked in over a decade.

the movement under the skin of the lying figure.

the sets in all "versions" of silent hill.

that it wasn't a happy ending.

the static on cybil's radio when the monster appeared.

the sound in general, and the sirens.

and PYRAMID HEAD (even though he shouldn't have been there, especially as limited as he was used.) but, oh, the knife scraping

i loved it when the 'staright jacket' creature spewed all over Cybil, and it burnt her helmet and top. I also loved the noise when she shot it, exactly like the game. the sounds were the best parts of the film

Honestly, I was utterly happy to see Lisa. That was def just a nod to the fans. Esp the bloody Lisa (yes I know its different from how lisa became a puppet nurse...but I still loved it)

wow, forgot all about the lisa scene. hated how it had to be explained with narration, tho. and felt rushed. there was such an emotional bit there that they kinda stumbled over to get on with the plot. you don't really get the depth that you got in the game.

Don't foreget that movies have to rush certain things so they're not stupidly long. You can't fit a full 6 hour game into a movie without some sacrifices.

well, let's hope they take the time to tell a proper story IF they adapt SH2. imagine rushing through laura's scenes and dropping eddie altogether, just so there's more action when james fights a nurse.

I loved how after the credits they had "Your not Alone" and "Theme of Laura" play.
