CYBIL thread

I gotta be honest.. i thought Cybil was kinda dumb at first. Well. then again so was rose.

Cybil noticed a girl yell , alright she checks it out, girl says dont talk to strangers and rose tells her everything is fine.

After driving she decides to pull them over?!? For what seriously .. i couldnt swallow it.

Course then out of no where Rose decides to just fly out of there like a bat out of hell when she could have just stayed and answered some dumb questions of Cybil.

The rest of the movie was fine and Cybil was actually pretty cool. I think it was just the first start of the movie that turned me off until she started to kick ass.

Someone mentioned this in another thread so don't give me any credit for this:
Chris cut off Rose's credit cards. He could've easily done this by reporting the cards stolen. He could also have then reported the SUV stolen. Cybil could've checked the licence plates, and if she discovered the car had been reported stolen, then that's a valid reason for pulling Rose over.

Cybil also smelled trouble. She supposedly has good cop instincts, and perhaps she saw a similar scene between the man and the boy he kidnapped at the rest stop (that very same rest stop?) and decided to check her out. She "never wants to see something like that again", checks out the store, finds out her card was declined and was looking for Silent Hill, then maybe finds out the cards are cut off, and realizes "Holy crap, something bad is going on."

It makes perfect sense. You just need to stop and think about it, like everything in Silent Hill.

I just wondered why they bothered burning her alive because before that when they beat her at the end of the beating you hear a horrible crack....I thought she was killed at that moment.

The Cybil cooking scene is definetely the most graphic and sad part of the movie.

that pissed me off that when Cristibella sees Rose's locket and the miners try to stop her Cybil whips out her night stick and starts crackin' skulls but when her gun fails on her she gives up and they beat her down...but hello!!! she still had the night stick...

i know they needed her to get beaten for the plot to work but it just pissed me off that she didn't fight back and i had to watch one of my favorite movie lesbians get beaten.

yes, just becase they don't blatently come out and say it, she is a lesbian. i mean she looked pretty feminine in the game so why not in the movie? they wanted a strong homosexual character, there arent enough of them in big buget movies like that.

and she set off my lesbian friend's gaydar.

Yeah - that is how it came across to me, even though I don't think it was mentioned directly. Chris was worried about Rose going to Silent Hill, and he gets on a website (actually, google - sneaky endorsement?) and sees itâ€™s a town that has been demolished by mine fires and such so he freaks out. He calls Toluca county police and maybe cancels her cards because he thinks his wife has snapped.

Cybil first sees Sharon and Rose and senses something strange is going on (partly because of Sharonâ€™s crazy nightmares in the vehicle and partly because of her paranoia resulting from the first kidnapping incident). After they leave, she gets a call in from Toluca police to keep an eye out for a woman and her daughter reportedly heading to Silent Hill in the same make/model/color vehicle. She chases after them.

Obviously something like this had to have happened, because there would be no logical reason for Cybil to chase after them otherwise.

Laurie was fantastic as Cybil. She really made the film for me, but I love Laurie anyway!

I thought her burning scene very uncomfortable to watch though. and it upset me a bit.

Lol @ homosexuality comments though. So what?!!!!

Hun, not that I'm saying she is or isn't but that really doesn't mean much

And what 'I Love Cybil' was trying to say is that it's moot to even speculate on what Cybil's sexuality is because it had no bearing on the filn's plotline. And that basinging it off of a haircut/hairstyle is quite silly.

People are saying Cybil is homosexual, why aren't people going out of their way to say Rose is heterosexual?

Amazonagent obviously doesn't realise what heterosexual means.

Ah well, that was still a rather amusing detour of discussion. For all that my opinon's worth though, I don't think Cybil is a dyke either. Just assertive.
