Second Burning?

Post by Rachel »

I just noticed that in the movie, Anna had mentioned the Hotel, where she said the "first burning" occured--and as we all know, that was when the cult "cleansed" Alessa Gillespie.

But what about the second burning? Did Christabella and her other cult members burn Dahlia Gillespie, as well, to make her repent for her sins and share the same horrible fate as her daughter?

I was just wondering. I don't think the movie ever made that totally clear.

Oh! But...oh, now I see your point. By saying "second burning", I'd just been making a small reference to something one of my brothers was saying could have happened...

Dahlia was also one of the casualties in the First Burning of Alessa, then? I quite vividly remember that one particular "flashback" scene in the movie, in which Dahlia had just returned to the hotel room with the policemen, including Officer Gucci, and she suddenly saw Alessa there, burnt nearly to a cinder, with that unforgettable look of pain on her blackened face...at that point in the movie, was the hotel already on fire? If it was, then there were already some people around to take Alessa to the hospital...and Dahlia would've most likely went with her, I suppose...so, all in all, Dahlia was burned to death as well, then? :( Is that how she, too, became a ghost of Silent Hill?

Why do you suppose Allessa was the only one that appeared burnt?
You know, that was actually taken to the hospital to be taken care of, and none of the others were mentioned?

Even though Dahlia was unmarried and had Alessa (Which in the eyes of the Cult is a sin) The cult thought that Alessa was the sin caused by Dahlia’s action and by burning Alessa the "sin" is a way for Dahlia to be calends.

The cult thought that the only way for Dahlia to be calends of all of her sins was to burning the sin (Alessa) much like the idea of a born again Christen being calends with water.

But that's just what I think... maybe someone could do a better job of explaining it to you?

P.S. I don't know if I misspell "calends", so just bear with me.

I don't know. I somehow was under the impression that everyone else had tried to run away, after they saw that a fire was burning somewhere, quite uncontrollably...they say that everybody in the city died of the burns they recieved from Alessa's fire. Is that correct, do you think?

How could have that fire be so big?

I think it is a type of revenge for what they did to her.

They didn't burn in the fire. The town's still pretty intact.

Many of the cultists simply -disappeared- into Alessa's Otherside. The rest of Silent Hill packed up and left, because the coal fire that resulted from the Alessa roast caused toxic gases and fumes to rise from the earth, as Gucci explained to Chris.

I think "The First Burning" is the name of the painting. As in a reference to the founders of the town.

I agree with JuriDawn, Alessa wasn't the 'First Burning'. This was the name of the painting; and I'm pretty sure that this painting can be seen when she's dragged away from her mother, so it's not supposed to be her.

I'm curious to know exactly how long after Alessa's burning; that the cult member were sucked into her Otherworld. I guess the obvious answer is when she makes the deal with Dark Alessa, but surely a police squad would have seen a group of frantic people fleeing from the building. Of course this all depends on how quickly help came for Alessa to start with.

Yes, that's rather weird, I think: I always thought that the blonde woman in the painting looked quite a lot like Dahlia, but of course, there's no way it could've been.

Why would it be weird? It makes sense. It WOULD be weird if Alessa were the cult's "first burning."

I suppose so. I see what you mean.

Dude. I sure wish that there were a few more screenshots of Dahlia Gillespie on the Internet, so I could analyze a few things about her, especially during the "flashback" scene. :|

I'm pretty sure Dahlia has red hair, not blonde, by the way.

Was Dhalia this old in the game....

I mean... Did Dhalia die shortly after the first burning, or many years after?

Ghosts can't age, can they?

Uh, what?

Dahlia in the film has nothing to do with Dahlia in the game. Dahlia was, mayhap, OLDER in the game than in the film.

The first burning happened decades and decades before the film. Dahlia wasn't even alive then.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.

When Alessa was BURNET, Dahlia was very pretty and very young.
Why did she age so much? if she "DIED" during that time?

We can't be sure she died, though I'm not entirely convinced she aged very much in the movie; her hair is covered in ash and prevents you from getting a good look at her face.
