When Rose yelled, "That's him!" with PH outside the door.
It sent chills down my spine for some reason.
" My little girl, she's missing etc. etc."
Sounds familiar somehow...

It is. I love that line. It's hilarious.Dark Sky wrote:"Stupid fucking cop..." always makes me giggle.
Not sure if that's technically a "good" piece of dialogue or not...
I also like when Rose interrupts "your faith brings death!!!"
Another frequency perpetuated into context, trapped in the eternal paradox.

Dahlia: Evil waits (wakes?) in vengeance. be careful what you choose.
I turn on 5.1 and hear "waits" but in 2.1 I hear "wakes"
I also heard Rose scream "I'm burning!" at the end of her recorded phone conversation to her husband. (When he is listening to it) but only in 5.1 - not in 2.1 or headphones, even. I've heard it twice now and it gives me the frickin chills every time I hear it. My friend said she heard it in surround, too.
I will have to see if I can hear cybil talking about her Mother (mentioned a few pages back)
Otherwise, my favorite lines have been mentioned already.

Dahlia, Christabella and Dark!Alessa seemed to be handed all the best lines in the film, at least in terms of quotability. No doubting that Cybill's "A mother is God in the eyes of a Child," is her best quote.
Dahlia's "Into the Fire she swallowed their hate." & "We have all lost our children... our light," quotes were always the most moving thing she's ever said.
"Fuck you, you stupid cop," is probably the best line said by Rose in the entire movie. Who doesn't want to say that to a policemen when their getting rightfully or wrongfully arrested by the lawman? Not to mention, Cybil was being pretty stupid during at the time.
Chris and Gucci's exchange in the car was pretty funny as well, when Chris asked "Why don't you let me do that?" in concerns to calling out to Rose over the bullhorn (loudspeaker, or whatever its called). Then Gucci's "Some you might say deserved it. ...Little bit," quote always got a chuckle out of me, because it reminded me of someone my mother said to me once.

"YOUR FAITH... BRINGS... DEATH!!!!"
I love it. More the delivery than the line itself, but haven't you ever wanted to scream something like that at religious fanatics?
...And then release a demon on them which kills them all with barbed wire tendrils?
I liked most of the dialogue in the movie, except for:
"They used to say that this place was haunted."
"I think they were right."
That bit made me cringe a little. Nothing wrong with it, just seemed a little cliche and predictable. Was expecting to then see Rose in the ventilation shaft of a building, musing on how she now knows what it feels like to be a TV dinner, or something. Haha.
But mostly great dialogue!

Well, it's trailer dialogue, plain and simple. There is much better ways to phrase what Rose was saying where it wouldn't sound so forced.DistantJ wrote:

I don't watch the movie frequently enough to really recall any of the dialogue off the top of my head, but I'm partial to most of what Dark Alessa said, only because I think the little girl they got to play her was a really good actress and pulled off the dual roles (Alessa and Sharon) really well.
One more soul to the call, for all, in silence...
Comes two more souls to the call, for all, and in time!
Three more more souls to the call, they fall...
Unknowing that four more souls to the call, won't be all, and you know it!

I genuinely love the movie, I don't see why anybody wouldn't, unless they were a high-standards film critic or they were mad that it didn't have Harry and The Order, but yeah, I think you're right, trailer dialogue... That entire shot seems completely pointless in the movie, sure it's establishing that they're moving elsewhere in the town but it seems to only be there for the sake of delivering those lines. Heck, they could have even been good if they were delivered differently, just they were treated like action flick one-liners. I shouldn't complain though, it's one scene in an otherwise amazing movie.

Nine out of ten lines are bad, but there are some that's actually good.
"Your faith brings death!" comes out strong.
"I have... many names." Is sort of ambigious, considering who's saying it.
"Only the dark one open and closes the door to SH." Pretty much sums up the concept.
"Mother is God in the eyes of a child." Touching and truthful.
"Filth and lies!" There's something crucial and wicked about that line.

Yeah, well... that is just like, ah, your opinion, man.
Rose's climactic scene in the church was both well written and well done. Anna's character and death were handled well, too. ("Filth and lies!!") She foreshadowed the fate of the other crazy parishioners, in that she had a strange sort of innocence, yet her own hatred and sanctimony led to her demise.
Dahlia's "They brought about their own hell and they'll take you with them" was great, too. They gave Unger a lot of the best lines.

THREAD QUESTION: "Does anyone want to date Heather?"
PARTYHARD: "Well, she carries a fuckton of emotional baggage, she's her own mother, used to be a suicidal girl who opened the gates of Hell in a town and would kill people with her brain, she's 31 in a teenage body, she can go on a relentless rampage if you piss her off enough... sure, don't see why not."
