I don't know about all that, but I know one good place to get Silent Hill 1 that never fails:

Get BitComet program and find a torrent for SH 1. Then it's just the matter of time before you have it...

I have gotten my 2 (both platinum) for 15$ in two swedish internet-stores but the original version goes up to around 30-50$ here.

note: Platinum is the European version of Greatest hits for you who doesn't know that.

Do you still have that extra copy? I can buy it off of you, if you want :D.

I got my used copy on ebay about a year ago, sent from the UK to Australia, can't remember the exact price but it wasn't much, probably about $30 AUD. There are (almost) always a couple of copies on ebay. I was disappointed that I couldn't save the game without a PS1 memory card (playing on PS2), and in the PAL version the Grey Children are replaced with Clawfingers (Grey Children are my fav enemy so that was disappointing)... I actually prefer to play the (NTSC) game on an emulator on PC where I can save it wherever even though I have a hard copy. The sound quality is way better on my PC through monitor speakers than it is through my old CRT tv... Definitely worht buying a copy though, I think I'm going to buy second copies of 1-3 soon, they're always in the 30-40 dollar range on ebay, sometimes cheaper.

all I can say is to those looking for copies still, ebay is your friend (uk version anyway) I've seen a good 10+ copies sell recently from cheap working condition to wrapped as per new so they are there otherwise amazon as Dutchman suggests
