SH 1 demo version
couldn't find a topic on the demo so i'm making one. i made some screencaps of the things that are different. PAL version, but still has the mumblers in the school. some mild changes in the artwork hanging in the school, and harry's shoes are different. ^_^
click for larger:
splash screen "this is a demo... " etc
"you will encounter a wall of darkness.."
town map
splash screen for battle mode
dahlia "coming soon"
school f1
school f2
stairs are blocked
different pics
coke bottle in place of religious painting
"CAR"
short clip i made of the opening:

Ah, yes. Back when the burger franchise was still called "Burger Queen". (Note: In the final version, it's called "Queen Burger".)nur_ein_tier wrote:town map

Got comparison pics from the retail version? I want to see the differences between the demo Harry and finalized Harry.
Also, the European retail and North American retail versions are different, the grey children are completely replaced with the mumblers (the teddy bear claw things) in the retail European version, though they're still in the European demo, there are undoubtedly other differences.

the other diff. with harry i think is that in some versions his sches have yellow circles on them, other versions they don't. i can't post comparison pics later, i'm sure i have a ton of them on my site and i've been meaning to do this in a more orderly manner... most everything in the school is different, i mean the drawings/posters on the walls etc. and of course the lobby key and all that. and the beam blocking the stairway, which anyone on earth except harry could've just climbed over, lol... also the book pictured above has different pictures in it. well, i'm come back to this later. i have to get to class now...
i know it's in at least one trailer, that's probably where you saw it.Darkly Noon wrote:I never played the demo version, but the sentence "You will encounter a wall of darkness, and the wrath of the underworld. These will help you." sounds strangely familiar. Has it been used in any other game, or context...?

well, sort of, yeah.St. Thomas wrote:>Has it been used in any other game, or context...?
It's a line from, oh I dunno, Silent Hill 1 . . . when Dahlia gives you the Flauros and drawbridge key.
"Here, the Flauros, a cage of piece. It can break through the walls of darkness and counteract the wrath of the underworld. These will help you. Make haste to the hospital before it's too late."
I thought the line in the beginning of the game suggested the walls of darkness and wrath of the underworld would help you, and when delivered by dahlia, it suggests that the flauros and the key would help you against the walls of darkness.

That doesn't make sense. How would the "wrath of the underworld" help in any situation? It's just using a quote from the game & applying it to the games design.

I didn't say it made sense. I said in the trailer, you see a screen which says "blah blah wrath of underworld wall of darkness these will help you." when the demo starts, it says that too. since there is no other context framing these lines, it appears to say that the wrath of the underworld will help you. I also don't think it is impossible for the wrath of the underworld to be helpful, i think it could have been stated that way to sound ironic.St. Thomas wrote:That doesn't make sense. I'm suprised whenever I see a copy of this on ebay. Ususally everytime I search for Silent hill there's a few copies. I thought it was supposed to be more rare then that
Or maybe there's a different demo disc that doesn't come with the MGS disc that is...idk lol

Yeah, I think there are two demo discs - just this morning I bought the one that didn't come with MGS for 99p! Only problem is, the postage to Australia costs GBP6.90 or something... Oh well... I want to see Harry get attacked by the Grey Children!
