The floor

Post by KOIBITO »

Searched, found nothing.

Well, i wonder why the floor is like metal wires in the nightmare cind of world..
Maybe it's just to creep you out or something but i can't realy see why.

The ting that creeps me out about it is that you wonder whats underneath it, and you wonder if you fall will you land in hell? Or if it's just a bottomless hole.. Well, write what you think.
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Or maybe it has something to do with Alessa being kept undergroud?

AND, you can also see the walls continuing beneath the wires.
(But not in this pic, if you want to see it i can take another picture)

I think it could hint to the fact Alessa felt caged up, or that the floor was burnt so all that was left was a metal mesh

It wasn't like that everywhere, only in certain areas. It gives the game a more freighting atmosphere if you ask me.

BTW, Nice usernames guys!

It's not wires, it's like a chain-link fence...And yes I think it's just for atmosphere.

I always thought it was something that Jacob's Ladder inspired, for example the subway scene and the asylum scene. There was a lot of chain-link/mesh flooring used in those. Also probably just an atmosphere thing.
"Gee it's as hot as hell in here."
"For me, it's always like this..."

Damn I really do need to watch that Jacob's Ladder movie, I feel like I'm missing out on a party or something.

I bought it as soon as I heard it was a big influence for Silent Hill. It is VERY good and I highly recommend it.

The floor reminds me of a grille, like a barbaque grille. Alessa was burned after all. Symbolism.

Oh, what a great symbolism you came up with - "a barbaque grille". . .

It's spelled barbecue grill, by the way.

Is that why I have the urge to eat steaks when ever I play Silent Hill?

Its just for atmosphere. It is there to show how the Otherworld is darker, grittier, and more dangerous. The opposite of the "normal" world. In the normal, there's pavement, snow, and light (at least you assume its day time). In the Otherworld, there's chain-link, rust, blood, rain, and darkness. It makes you feel like you're removed from reality. In a...oh, wait for it...nightmare, perhaps?

I think your thinking of the movie, in SH1 she was kept in the underground room in the basement storeroom hallway...

I loved that metal grating thing they used... really set the mood... especially the 2nd pass through the sewer, when it starts looking deterioratd... oooh.. chills! :D

Plus that "tent thingy" was just to make sure her wounds didn't get infected...
