Silent Hill 1 Available On PSN Store

Post by AngelsWhisper »

Hey guys, I don't believe there's a topic about this already (according to the search and a quick browse anyway), apologies if there is though.

Just checked today's PlayStation Store update and the original Silent Hill is there for download for PS3 and PSP. I'm not sure what countries have got this, but I logged into the UK store. It costs £3.99, but I haven't been paid yet so I can't download it. Therefore I'm not sure whether there are any graphical updates or such - I doubt there is though.

If anyone purchases this over the next few days, please post and leave any additional information that might be worth knowing.

Wow, that's awesome. Great for people who don't have custom firmware on their PSP but still want to play it on theirs. I wonder if it's for sale in all regions and what button R2 would be on a PSP.

Can I play PS1 games from the PSN on my 40gb PS3? I know I can't play actual discs, but I'm clueless on emulation software lol.

It's not the end of the world if I can't play, I have the actual game - but it would be nice to be able to sit anywhere to play rather then on the edge of my bed crinking my neck :P

You should be able to download them provided you are connected to the network if they are available. I don't think you can get emulating software...

I know I can download them :P The 40g didn't come with any backwards compatibility software for the PS1/PS2 so I don't know if I can play them if I do download them.

All PS3's are backward compatible with PS1 games; it's just PS2 backward compatibility that was taken out of post-launch models.

What Im trying to say is that if you can download them from the store, they are compatible.
I think it's just PS2 discs that some of them can't read. I'm still pissed that I missed out on the PS3s that have the appropriate hardware to read PS2 discs!!!

You're not missing out really. Okay, it's a pain having two seperate consoles, but a lot of the original 60GB have been failing recently where the newer models have been fine.

Back on topic, has anyone gotten round to downloading this yet?

EDIT: I'm sure there's no changes to the original but it'd be nice to have some clarification.

The thing I think it needs most is better movement controls. Walking backwards is terrible.

I think I've played a different version of Silent Hill than everyone else has.

Any word on this coming to the US store? If not maybe there is a way I can purchase it from the UK store. I have the game and all, its just if I had a virtual copy I could keep my real one nice and safe :D

Argh. Well I don't have a ps3 and my psp won't connect here to the university network, I'll have to take it elsewhere to try to get online with it, but I totally wouldn't mind having ps1 on my psp just for the hell of it. I have it for PS1 but could never get my psp to play ps1 games (I have one hacked psp and one nonhacked). I'd even pay money to download a game I already have, if they make it available in the US store...

I've been paid today so I'm going to download this when I get home from work tonight. Will post my feedback after I've played it for a bit.

Yeah, I found out about that. What's the reason they removed it for though?

Talk about extreme disappointment. I was about ready to leap across the room and fire up my ps3 to download when I realized it was Europe only. I live in the US, man, we don't get shit. I hope it comes over eventually but some part of me doubts it. I mean, the code is already there, so it would be easy, but that sounds... too easy.

I'll keep a lookout for this though. I'm buying first thing when it's released.

EDIT: It has apparently been taken off the PSN.
