Have you seen Harry's daughter anywhere? Short, dark hair?

Brady vs Prima: Which SH1 Strategy Guide is Better?

Post by volpe3fuego »

Hey guys :D I was just curious to know which SH1 strategy guide is better for completing the game and finding everything, please. Or am I better off just sticking with GameFAQs?

Thanks!

Why not use all of them combined?

GameFAQs is much cheaper than those guides, and the better ones are probably more accurate and informative.

I never buy strategy guides anymore. I just use Gamefaqs whenever I get stuck. Plus, I've found more Gamefaqs guides in depth than pricey strategy guides. Not to mention if you're stuck in a way that the walkthrough can't help you, there's always message boards to ask on. Although gamefaqs message boards are somewhat troll infested.

Ugh, why not just beat the game without a strategy guide? It's so much more satisfying that way. If you're going to use a strategy guide, you might as well watch a "Let's Play" on Youtube...

Though if you must, BradyGames has a better reputation than Prima does. BG guides tend to be more complete, organized, and entertaining. There are exceptions, though, so take my advice with a grain of salt. However, I hear BG spoils the plot while Prima does not.

I go with Gamefaqs when it comes to the old games I get from Amazon. I don't even pay attention to the names of the game guides I get for the new games. It might be both Prima and Brady.

I've never really seen the point in buying strategy guides, you clearly have access to the internet so you're better off just googling "*name-of-game* walkthrough" and you're bound to find the info you need.

However, I'd also suggest only using it as a very last resort as I'm sure it would somewhat ruin any sense of acheivement you get from the game. Only time I used one in an SH game is on the Zodiac puzzle. But that was because I was being an idiot and couldn't see the wood for the trees.

Oh yeah, I remember that puzzle. For some reason, Konami and Capcom love adding puzzles to survival horror games.

It's been the basis of the survival horror genre since Alone in the Dark. I find it incredibly weird when survival horror games don't have puzzles in them because it feels like something that makes the genre what it is is missing.

I guess so.
