Post subject: how cybil ended up in silent hill |

in the intro, we see cybil racing by harry on the same road, in the same direction. as he loses sight of her, he is now driving by himself on the road, until we see her overturned motorcycle on the side. Soon after, harry is swerving off road. It seems that maybe the same thing hapened to cybil as it did to harry, meaning that a visional image of a girl/woman caused both vehicles to swerve outta control. but whats significant about cybil? does alessa know her or something?

If Cybil lost control, her bike would have been destroyed. When Harry passes it, it's overturned but intact. The only damage is a bent front wheel.
Thus, she must disappeared while in motion, without enough warning to make her react, because her bike coasted at least long enough for it to lose a considerable amount of velocity. If the bike were to have hit a solid rock wall at the speed she was riding, it would have been completely annihilated.

i blame it on Alessa, seeing that Cybil could be usefull to her in stopping Dahlia, or aiding Harry ...

I always imagined Cybil was inadvertently (at least, on her end of things) drawn in to the events surrounding Harry. Sort of like Douglas in SH3 with Heather.

She may have had her own reasons for being in Silent Hill, completely unrelated to what was going on with Harry.

The world may never know for sure...
Unless they make a game about it...?
Silent Hill: Cybil, and Silent Hill: Locker Cat. Get to work, Konami.

Silent Hill: Locker Cat would probably be a pretty short game with only one ending.

I'm saying she disappeared while riding, and the bike coasted along, riderless, until it hit the wall and toppled over.

I have no idea why you would think so.

If something runs out in front of you and you're going 50+mph on a bike, you can't just slam on the brakes, you have to swerve to miss the object. If you swerve too fast or over compensate swerving you can lose control and the safest way to wreck is by putting the bike into a slide. If my memory is correct, Harry is driving along a mountain cliff. If Cybil just vanished and the bike kept on going then it would likely hit the mountain or the guard rail, spin or flip eventually coming to a stop and the bike would appear way more damaged then it appears in the game. Anyway, this is how I've always viewed what happened, I maybe wrong, but I personally don't think either way changes the story.

Play Novel says she saw Alessa and swerved out of the way, hitting the base of the mountain, which is what I believe as well.

If the play novel is canon, then that's the way it is. Either way, both she and Harry ended up in way over their heads.

It definitely sounds plausible, though aren't there things in SH1 that the Play Novel contradicts?

I don't know, I've never played it. Would like to though, but I can't find an English translation of it.

I mean, yeah, Play Novel deviates from SH1's plot in several ways, if you choose options that don't coincide with what happened in the original game.
But then again, it's possible to get abducted by aliens in the original game, so these "Is it canon?" discussions can get a bit silly.
All of the games are simultaneously canon and not-canon. It just depends on what is plausible and what is clearly not.

I suppose that is true, since the SH games all have several endings each, and whichever one is 'canon' or what 'really' happened is left up to the player.
