PSP/PS3 Manual Reload?

Is there any way to manualy reload your gun instead of having to open the menu and select "reload"? I beat the game once already doing this and I don't want to do it again on my second run!

I think you can by just trying to shoot another time after you've emptied, but reloading through the menu takes less in-game time.

Anyways, to shoot faster (another tip) try tapping the button instead of point blank pressing/holding it. It shoots faster, and, in turn, lets you reload faster.
