What should I do?
Hello everyone! I´ve completed Silent Hill 1 for the second time, first in easy, then in normal. Now, my "Next Fear" will be in Hard mode... Being a newbie to, not only Silent Hill but the whole Survival Horror thing, do you think I should try out my chances playing the game right now in Hard Mode or, should I get more more familiarized with the locations and game style and so on by playing it again in Normal Mode?
Also, everyone says that Silent Hill 2 is great and some even say that it is the best from the series... I don´t know why but I´m not feeling like playing it now or soon, for some reason that even I don´t know why... Am I wrong? Is the game really that good?
Thanks in Advance

Re: What should I do?
If I were you, I would try out Hard on a seperate save file so I could quit if it's too much for me to handle. That's the best way to do it. Hard Mode shouldn't be too much for you though. Normal was still kind of easy in the first one.
As for the second one... I felt the SAME way. You'll get an entirely new story, all new characters, all new experiences, but it IS worth it. I can't say you'll feel fore sure it's superior to the first one, but it is an overwhelmingly great story telling experience. It is by far the most acclaimed game in the series. If I were you, I'd take my time and play all of the games. There isn't a single terrible one in the bunch. Just ones that are better than the others. 2 and 3 are the real stars with their stories and art styles. Just phenomenal.

I don't make a signature.
Except for the part of the signature explaining that I don't.

Re: What should I do?
Gameplay is boring. Apart from the boss fights, but everything else is a fuckin' chore. Also, everyone says that Silent Hill 2 is great and some even say that it is the best from the series... But the story and the rest (sounds, music, replay value) are awesome. Get it.
Re: What should I do?
The only thing about the second one that might be a knock against it, is that it starts off slow...but once you get to...........small spoiler................the apartment building, everything starts to pick up....definitely get it tho...the thing i luv about this series is that every game is a story that can stand by itself, and it doesn't need any back story to explain itself...save for maybe the 1st and the third game.
Even tho i think the story is a tad overrated, what's there is still solid and interesting.....every character in the story is in-directly connected to james in a very clever way....imo...

Yes, I think I´ll do as you say but I´ve decided to keep playing in normal mode instead until I get to see the different endings. I don´t feel much like watching the cutscene on youtube, I rather do it myself since I got "sort of" incredibly addicted to the game.NeoAquarius12 wrote:If I were you, I would try out Hard on a seperate save file so I could quit if it's too much for me to handle. My main doubt on Silent Hill 2 is just well...
I felt a bit like this with the first game too but after playing it I loved it so I guess it will be the same thing with the 2nd. The one that I really started playing straightforward since the first time I ever heard of Silent Hill was the 3rd one. Heather, the graphics, the soundtrack, they were just so appealing to me. I am yet to beat the game though, I´m just on the subway part, everyone was saying that the 3rd was tied to the 1st so I decided to go through the 1st one 1st.
Also, you said this
Do you mean that from your experience the others were more challenging than the 1st one?Hard Mode shouldn't be too much for you though. Normal was still kind of easy in the first one.
Thank you all for the other replies about the second SH game

Yeah, the first and second one really aren't that hard in comparison to the next two. SH3 on hard is well, pretty hard. haha. And 4 has some difficult parts mostly because there is a lot of things coming at you at once in particular places. And I haven't played Homecoming yet (finally on my Gamefly), but I hear that can range to the difficult levels.
Origins is kind of easy as well, especially one a second play through or more if you get the right achievements.

Re: What should I do?
I recommend getting a notebook. but this seems silly. I recommend noting down areas where necessary items are, then going on hard to get what you need and get out of there.
A good idea is to avoid rooms where you will be overwhelmed easily.
I can understand the School can be hard to master. I managed to kill everyone in the school without being stabbed or hugged, (like 7 playthroughs)
But practice,practice.

Yeah, and it´s not silly, actually at the beginning I started doing that for the sake of the riddles, and at the third time playing the game I felt that it was needed for me to do that. I noticed that I managed somehow to make the same mistakes over and over lolZeraylph wrote:I recommend getting a notebook. but this seems silly. For example in Nowhere, when I get back to a certain room, there´s nothing to do there, but when I returned, because I was LOST there were 3 nurses and it was annoying as hell, neither one of them attacked me, it was just me trying to kill them and having an hard time because they kept grabbing me and grabbing . . Is Harry that sexy?
Also this might be ridiculous but having completed the game 3 times, I never found the Rifle

Yes, the bit that I played from Silent Hill 2 was very easy I didn´t reached any boss though to tell if it was easy or hard.NeoAquarius12 wrote:Yeah, the first and second one really aren't that hard in comparison to the next two. The 3rd one is the one that I like the most of gameplay, although there are more enemies and yeah, they´re tougher, and I don´t know if you watch naruto but my patience is similar to Deidara´s. When I was in a room there were three hmm, small, that walk strangely and were dark grey colored, I was searching for goodies and the F*** trapped me and I coudn´t pass, and well, as a proof of my appreciation for them, I gave them a gruesome death with the pole

I assume you're talking about the monsters in the school. Yeah, they are a pain because there are always a lot of them in a single room. But knowing where they are helps out a lot. Don't let yourself get trapped next time. haha.
And yes, I do... read Naruto. So I know what you mean.
And also, watch the double posts. They don't take too kindly to that around these parts.

I tried to like Fever Dream's comment, but I realized this isn't Facebook.
I know someone else did the same thing recently, but come on, it happens! haha. Insane in the brain... classic.

No, I started playing it and it looks great and lol, Pyramid Head is such a レイピスト (Rapist)Fevered Dream wrote:You'd be insane in the brain not to play 2.
I don´t now why but the game lags a lot, it used to be unplayable before, but if I play without the gamepad it rarely lags.
It´s weird that I can play Silent Hill 3 with the best resolutions, 4 too and even Devil May Cry 4. In the 2nd I have the lowest resolution possible lol, it still lags.. Weird.

Are you playing it on PC?
Wolfwood: Oh yeah, I almost forgot. "Go with the grace and protection of the Lord." It's the usual mantra for the big hero.
Vash the Stampede: Does it work?
Wolfwood: That depends entirely on you.
Vash the Stampede: Some mantra...

Silent Hill 2 is my fave of the series. I guarantee you'll like it. You should try Hard on 1, though. And like NeoAquarius12 says, put it on a separate file so you can quit if you want. If it's too hard, don't spend too much time on it. Move on to the next game. You'll be glad you did.

I´ve actually already completed the second and the thirdUyrikeustek wrote:Silent Hill 2 is my fave of the series. I guarantee you'll like it. You should try Hard on 1, though. From my opinion, my favourite game Ost is from the 3rd. The gameplay on 3rd was much better than the 2nd, but the story from the 2nd was much better than the 3rd, in my opinion. I tried the 4th but I lost right at the beginning with the dog because I was having trouble with the controls and dunno why but I lost "contact" with Henry and coudn´t move to a safe zone. I´m ashamed for dying to a simple dog on easy mode (even with such circumstances)
For the others: I should be playing homecoming soon, after 4th. Then SH SM (it´s sold out now ã… .ã… ) for the last: Origins, I saw trailers and I got intrigued by the main character because I disliked it so much so I watched some 3 parts from a walkthrough and yeah, I do hate him, but I´ll complete the game anyway. After that, I´ll be waiting for 8th (and hoping that it will come out for the pc, since I don´t have ps3)
