Silent Hill Heaven

So, I'm playing through Silent hill one, and if memory serves me correctly one has to choose between the Rock drill, and the Chainsaw.

What are people's opinion as to which one is better, or which one will help me out more in the longrun?

A number of people have weighed in here, so if you want to discuss it further it'd be best to revive that thread. Personally, I love me some rock drill. It's the only one of the two that actually stops your enemies' progress.
