Hey all! I havent played SH1 but Im a reader and watcher of all Let's Play. I am also building Silent Hill map and about 98% done on Old Silent Hill. I know you visited Gillespie's house in SH1, SH3 and SH Origins, but the house isnt listed on the world map. Where is it exactly do you know? Thanks!

We only actually visit that house in SH Origins (unless you count rooms from the house that appear in Nowhere). I don't know where the house is, but I remember from the view of it we see in the SH1 intro trailer, it looks to be somewhat isolated with a field around it and a creek. So not in one of the regular neighborhood areas.

Thinking about the beginning of Origins, they put it along a road leading into town and although there were still no immediate neighbors, it seemed to be located a bit differently and looked a bit less... ranch-like. I'm not aware if we know exactly what road that was Travis was taking into town when he came to the house. I don't remember a name on the road, just the Welcome To SH sign, and since Travis wakes up later elsewhere, you can't really tell for sure which route he used to arrive, as far as I know.

It's also a matter of which version you'd prefer to be more loyal to: SH1 or Origins.

I think it'll mostly be a guessing game on your part, using what we know as clues.

Maybe the isolated house is just a manifestation used to lure Cheryl and the real house was surrounded by other houses before the rithual and the fire...

Afetr all the police report in SH says that 6 other houses were destroyed too so the original Gillespie home couldn't be isolated like the building we see in the opening movie...

That's true. And now I remember having this conversation before!

It's the official Japanese Navigation Book for the first game...

it is interesting to see how that room in the second floor seems to be lit... Maybe on fire?

Probably where Green Lion is now, right?

Five years later and I finally see this thread. Sorry, everyone!

The Gillespie house is north of Green Lion Antiques. Silent Hill Chronicle states that it was the origin of a fire that burned down six houses in the Business District. That appears to be in Central Silent Hill, and further north would explain that it's a fairly undeveloped area, which would explain why other houses are not seen in the opening sequence. My guess is with the boiler explosion, embers spread throughout the neighborhood and possibly set nearby trees and rooftops on fire which caused even more destruction. Afterward, the houses were all demolished, explaining why the buildings aren't listed on the map(s).

Didn't Origins make it pretty clear that it's up on the highway?

Well that's the thing. Travis is taking a shortcut through Silent Hill on his way to Brahms. We know Brahms is to the west of Silent Hill based on the Observation Deck in SILENT HILL 2, if you continue on Nathan Ave. But the Business District is on the north side of the lake, so it's likely his shortcut was taking Simmons St. and then traveling through town.

Unless, after looking at the map again, he came in from the east side of town on Midway Ave. and the houses are near the Cedar Grove Sanitarium. He wakes up on Crichton St., near Alchemilla Hospital, which is just north of Midway Ave. Maybe the Gillespie home is on the east side of town instead, since Midway Ave. transitions to an Interstate road.

I'm actually starting to lean toward the Gillespie house being off Midway Ave. now. Thanks, Droo! You finally did something good. ;)

Midway Ave past Cedar Grove on the way to the Interstate?

Hmm. See, I always got the impression Travis was on the same highway Harry/Cheryl/Cybil crashed on, north of Old and Central Silent Hill. You think the Gillespie house is now that far east? Interesting.

>Midway Ave past Cedar Grove on the way to the Interstate?<
Correct.

The Gillespie house has to be somewhere in Central Silent Hill because that's the Business District. And if Brahms is west of Silent Hill, Travis would likely be coming from the east, and Midway Ave. is the only street that connects to the Interstate going into town. You could argue he was coming from the north because it looks like Crichton St. and Simmons St. also connect to an Interstate, though we can't know for sure because the in-game maps don't indicate that.

Crichton St. might be the most realistic seeing as it does connect to the road that leads out of town, on which Harry and Cybil were driving into town, but Simmons St. appears to do the same, and it's just north of Green Lion Antiques.

Where is that super high res fan map that incorporates the full map of the entire town, including the areas from Origins and Downpour?

That's actually what I've been using for this. That and in-game maps for secondary reference.
