Has anyone noticed how EXPENSIVE GAS WAS IN SILENT HILL!?
In the time of SH1, at the gas station, it read $160.9+(more or less).
If that's in the 80's then damn, it must be hella expensive by SH3!!
Check at the gas station if you want to see what I mean.
I could of read it wrong...but I kept checking to make sure.
Originally I intended on posting a screenie but I forgot to paste it in paint after printing screen.

The cinema in Silent Hill advertises a movie called Demons, which is by a director from Italy. I missed out on getting it from eBay, but it may have inspired Silent Hill because of Cheryl.

My, first time playing through, I didn't really see any 80's influence. But now that I've looked through it again, it's obvious. O_o

I think Harry's bell bottoms are part of it.

You think it was worth bringing up a 1 & ½ year old thread by saying that. . ?

The forum guidelines recommend members to use the search buttom or the quick links before making a new thread. Reviving old threads is therefore the most recommended thing to do―to a certain degree. If you revive an old thread, you really should revive it with new interesting information, theories or whatever you like, and not just bump it with one-sentence-posts.

Because, considering nobody has posted in the thread for a long time, there has to be a good reason for bringing the discussion back.

Good job. Still no excuse for your tremendous one-sentence-revival.

Well I believe that Silent Hill 1 takes place in 1986 but whatever.

OK, I just think there's a timeless element to all the games.

Don't get caught up about years.

Also I refuse to believe this game's in the 80s.

I never thought about the time setting when I first played it (when you are 9 you can miss a lot) but playing it back it has a very definite Stephen King-like feel to it. I got - almost - the same feeling playing the game as I did when reading Tommyknockers and The Shining.

I fully apologize for my lazy posting. I'm working on improving my skill and attention, this is my first forum.

Just to clarify, I just always thought it takes place whenever you want it to.

Most likely, the present.

Not to mention Harry's bellbottomish pants.

That would require Silent Hill 3 taking place in 2026. Color me skeptical.

Silent Hill: Origins provided a basis for dates, anyway. If Silent Hill took place today, Travis should have been almost 60 when Origins occurred.

The only thing that throws of the 1980 date is the fact that in SH3, Harry's TV looks like it came from the 1950's. But I guess it doesn't make a difference.

Yet Henry's television isn't the most state-of-the-art, either, and Silent Hill 4: The Room officially occurs in 2001.
