If you think about this bad ending, its probably one of the best bad ending game in the history.

i got the bad+ ending first time around. i remeber thinking that i had to have done something wrong cos the holy mother couldnt have been the final boss. so i re-played it and got the good ending. when the incubus came out of her i squeeled in glee! am i right in thinking that to get to see the incubus you must save kaufmann?

Not necessarily. Harry, at one point in the game, says he feels like it's all a nightmare he's having, and that for all he knows he could be passed out in the truck/jeep from the accident. I'd say those lines explain the events of the game. Poorly explain, yes, but explain nonetheless.
