I was wondering who or what referenced Alessa was burned alive in their house by Dalhia to summon Samael.

PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Alessa was not burned alive to summon Samael. Dahlia realized she didn't need Alessa alive to give birth to God, so she burned down the house. The game makes a reference to the house being burned down and to the death of Dahlia's daughter. If I'm not mistaken, Lisa tells that story to Harry.

Dahlia kept Alessa alive just because she wanted the god to be nourished at Alessa's womb.

There's no such thing as Samael - "Samael" is a false name that is designed to mislead Harry and the player.

LOL
It seemed like a good idea to point that detail out.

The house was burnt down by an antiquated boiler: Alessa was alive in the basement and was forced to experience this trauma so as to birth God. The ceremony partially worked, but Alessa, having powers of her own, was capable of splitting her soul into two, thus: Cheryl was "born" & placed on the side of the road.

I always thought (SH3 spoilers:)
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Leonard looked burned, in the boss fight. I've always wondered in the back of my mind if he was involved in the burning, and that's why he looks like that. It doesn't seem like a very far stretch, considering he's Claudia's father.
I figure that's on-topic, considering the thread title.

No, Leonard is similar to the Missionaries in that he is a regular human who is transfigured (either through Claudia's power or Heather's, I haven't come to a conclusion on that matter yet) to look like a monster. He doesn't look like that at all.

I'm sorry, I'm a little confused.

I definately thought that Dahlia burned Alessa on purpose to try to summon the god. Can someone help me out?

I know he isn't an actual monster.
Nonetheless, I still think he looks like he's been burned.

And yes, Dahlia purposely burned Alessa after Alessa resisted her. Dahlia wanted her to use her powers to the Cult's advantage. Not only does pain and suffering bring about the growth and birth of God, but with Alessa in such a helpless state, she felt she could manipulate God's powers herself. What she didn't count on was Alessa dividing herself.

I hope I got that right.
