Dream "Bad" Ending? (spoiler?)

Have you seen Harry's daughter anywhere? Short, dark hair?

The way I like to look at it is: It just seems like it was all a dream, or it could've been a dream but there's no concrete thing saying it was.
This way, it's not all for nothing, and it shows another aspect of the towns power. Something like that.

But that couldn't have been the real ending, because in Silent Hill 3, it shows Harry dead in the chair. So the dream ending coulden't have been real, right?

Yeah, that's pretty much what stops it being the true ending completely. Harry definately survives, otherwise SH3 would've never happened.
Sometimes it's interesting to look into the other endings, though.

Yeah, the UFO ending is also pretty much ruled out by the events of SH3, but it's incredibly funny!

What really would have been awesome, would have been if Heather had found that old Konami lightblaster you get for completing the UFO ending, somewhere in the apartment. Would have been a nice compliment to the Beam Saber, lol.
And thus we see the heavy stone, and also the steep hill, and look! There's Sisyphus, waving madly. Is he greeting us, or warning us?." -Tycho

I really thought it was more of...not so much that it was a dream, but that Harry was actually dead in that jeep and everything he was experiencing was his afterlife and now he was stuck in eternal hellfire after Alessa just leaves him in there...that is a little unsettling, I'll give ya that.

I never got to see the UFO ending. I heard it was pretty awsome, though.

Awesome, not really...but it's funny. And that song is catchy. Sounds like a song from an old pinball machine.

But I thought he wasn't quite dead yet when you see him in the Jeep? Hard to have an afterlife if you're not dead yet.
I might be wrong, though, since I've never seen this ending.

The UFO ending is funny, but it's pretty short. It also cuts the game short, since it's triggered when you use the strange pendant for the final time on top of the lighthouse.

I usually save just before it, get the ending, then go back to my last save to finish the game.

he's more like hanging on by a thread when you see him in the jeep. Kind of in a coma.
watch Jacob's Ladder to see what Silent Hill was trying to do with the "Bad" ending.
Back off man, I'm a scientist.

I think he was hanging by a thread the whole "dream" and is finally dead when they show him in the Jeep at the end...like Jacob's Ladder...they show you his true state just as he dies. Which makes me think his journey was his afterlife as well...and once he came to terms with it...he could die.

I have to say, that's a very insightful interpretation...

I was serious :D

I like discussions that give me something to think about, and that certainly gave me something to think about.

I kept getting the Good/+ ending and my nephew told me to get a bad ending, so I did and got the ending with Harry in the wrecked jeep. Preety cool.

For some reason, I just can't bring myself to play for the bad ending in a game....don't know why. Guess I'm just a wuss.

I like it how nearly every ending in SH1 creates or gives a different angle of the events in the game.
