Naw. Definitely Swords of Obedience for the Swords suit. With all of the cards shown piercing a Victim

^ You mean tarot cards? They're a form of divination. They're basically a set of cards, each with their own meaning. Go read a book about it at your local library. ;)

It's not always the number one site to rely on, but this is basic information:

It's not the cards that are fake; it's the bogus fortune teller.

Um...another necrobump....sorry...
(even if nobody wants to chat about this anymore, I just wanted to get my thoughts out there...)

I don't think there will ever be a "full series" tarot deck. They would have to limit it to Origins-4, 1-4 or something like that. It gets too complicated otherwise.

I, myself, use the Crowley (Thoth) deck, which is a bit more astrology and Kabbalah oriented. Also, it's very heavy on the elemental symbolism. You have to keep this in mind when you read the following. Also, I haven't picked them up in a while, but would like to again soon.

-The way to do a full deck would be to have primary/secondary characters as the court cards (because they are supposed to represent real people anyhow)
-The Aces would have to be either Cult sects or maybe towns. We've got Silent Hill itself, Ahefield and Sheperd's Glen...um...missing a fourth one...oh, well....Perhaps important landmarks? (Light House, I'm looking at you!)
-The trumps would have to be a great mix of the iconic elements. Perhaps the serpent & reed couple could be the Emperor & Empress, considering they reside in The Cult's mythology as they do. I'm sorry, but I honestly cannot see anything other than the Water Prison being The Tower, considering it's symbolism. The Heirophant would have to be a Native American shaman from the area that we haven't met yet. Someone with ties to the land while it was more virgin. Maybe Jennifer Carol could be the hanged (wo)man, but there's lots-o-other symbolism in the series that it could be. We don't know much about the switching from 'land of the silenced spirits' to 'grotesque otherworlds' but whatever is decided upon as the most transformative moment could be Death. It symbolizes irrevocable change.
-The minor arcana would have to be a mix of landmarks, and individual occurrences within the integrity of the game. The artwork would reflect the meaning of the card. For example, I always envisioned the 10 of disks as Vincent behind his desk counting money or going through receipts to symbolize his acquiring power/money. Maybe the 10 of wands could be Alessa burning. Stuff like that.

If you read all the way to the end, bless you!

You're saying Laura's not magnanimous despite leaving w/ the man who killed her best friend?

Huh.
That's not a fact. That's only a speculation, as the Leave Ending is one possible ending of many.

Yay! Necrobumb of one of my favorite threads! (That I never really got to discuss in. Sad panda.)

I always liked the idea of making a 4th game only deck, too.
Cynthia could be the devil, easily. I don't know if Joseph or Henry would make a better fool, though.
Anyone have any thoughts? No? Oh well, I tried.

SilentWren: I love your ideas on what to put on the cards and I agree with a 4th game only. In order to contirbute ideas, I'll pull out my tarot cards/book and have a look'see and tell ya any ideas I have :D

^One of the regulars on Hell Descent has an absolutely EPIC trumps page going. It's for the first game through Homecoming.
He has Heather as the Fool, Lisa as the Devil and few movie cards, too.
He wanted to include The Eye of Night, and actually liked an idea I had for it being Cheryl's reincarnation instead of the cult's god. (Which I took as a GIGANTIC complement. This guy really knows his stuff.)

As far as I'm concerned, Silent Hill is the perfect candidate for making tarot correspondences because I've always used them as a tool of personal/metaphysical discovery instead of fortune telling. I was actually disappointed that this thread didn't have more activity because there's so many intelligent and insightful people here. On some forums, you can get a post like "lol. tarot is fake, just like Miss Cleo. u ppl r dum."

As far as single game only decks go, I guess the second game would be just as fun to make as the fourth, but nobody would be able to agree on what PH should be. :D
Probably Death, The Tower or 9 of swords. But no matter what, everyone would still dislike the card you chose, I bet.

R.P.T.s are already officially considered XX. Judgment by the developers.

^I see what you did there.

That doesn't necessarily count. They weren't trying to make a deck, they were just making cutesy little correspondences to the tarot to make the presentation cool. There's no way that anyone making a serious deck would make "monster designs" or "the music" a card theme.

If you think about what he means to James, then yeah it kinda fits pretty good. But you know this fanbase-everyone would argue FOREVER about which card fits him "better."
