Thanks very much for the updated compilation (and homemade loops), VIVIsect -- your level of commitment is massively appreciated.

The SH4 E3 trailer samples are from Bill Laswell's Ambient Grooves Collection.

The TDTLIOM pad is from Sony's Ambient Realms.

The Missionary Battle sample is from EastWest's BT - Twisted Textures.

A lot of the newly added samples were discovered by you. So, thank you, Mr. Cyborg! I never would have caught some of those! :)

You mean, in the same style as Titanium Rhythms? Really, all I can think of is Darkness: Cinematic Sound Design (BFA). There's plenty of other "found percussion" type libraries, but not many as harsh or aggressive as Titanium Rhythms. There's libraries like Tool Shed Percussion (BFA), Found Percussion (BFA), Junkyard Sessions (M-Audio), and Junkyard Rhythms (Sony), but they're all geared more towards "light" background-type percussion.

Honestly, I'd suggest just making your own. There's tons of libraries with nice metallic hits/explosions/impacts/general factory noises. For the loops I made, I just used single hit samples from the original Cinematic Sound Design (BFA) and Dark Skies (Zero-G).

^ I think it's the same "Witch Doctor" sample from Altered States that plays at the beginning of "A Stray Child". It sounds like a section was looped and played at a higher pitch.

You're welcome.

I'm going to be really annoying now and submit a couple of post-update minor additions (sorry!).

Both are from Sony's Robert Rich - Ambient Atmospheres and Rhythms:

- Sulling Verb -- edited, overlaid and transposed to note G4 -- plays at 0:55 - 2:35 in Memories II

- Low Drone Flute Loop -- edited, overlaid and transposed to note A4 -- plays at 0:48 - 1:10 in Prayer (I'm not 100% certain about this one. It's the same situation as the O.R.T. sample: too similar a sequence, but too dissimilar a sound)

Awesome finds, you guys!

I've just made a new discovery, myself. In the track Maternal Heart, there's a male solo tenor voice that starts at 1:27. It's from the Spectrasonics library Symphony of Voices (disc 2).

I've long suspected that Yamaoka used that library on various tracks that feature solo female vocal sounds (Scarlet Theme, Azusa 1GO), but I've never been sure, because a lot of choir vocal samples sound alike. But the Maternal Heart voice is definitely from Symphony of Voices.

^ Good stuff, man. :)

Found another Shadows of the Damned sample. "080 Healer Decem-E" from Degrees of Abstract (Zero-G) is used on Shedding Stars.

^ A lot of the songs sound like they came straight from a later Silent Hill soundtrack. It's mostly the same ambient-ish/trip-hop-ish stuff. Not much industrial banging and clanging, though.

If you enjoy the later Silent Hill soundtracks, you should hunt down the Complete Shadows of the Damned soundtrack. It's essentially the same, for the most part.

Edit:

Speaking of Shadows of the Damned, just realized that the beat from Hades Suburbs and Desent into Hunger are also from Dark Downtempo 2 (From Beatserv, like the two previously mentioned beats). Yamaoka really liked this sample library!

I'm checking the Sony (Sonic Foundry) libraries since a few of Akira's samples have been found there. It seems highly logical that he would've used some of these since they've most likely been supplied from Konami.

EDIT: Found loads of libraries, but so far, not really any samples that haven't been found already. Anyway, the "Justin Lassen White Rabbit" and "Rapoon: Texture and Soundscapes" sound really Silent Hill-esque, so check them out if you feel like it.
Currently filming my fan film called "SILENT HILL: BLACKOUT".

Yamaoka tends to stick with certain companies in terms of sample libraries.

Looking over our past discoveries, it seems clear that he favours products from Big Fish Audio, Sony/Sonic Foundry, Spectrasonics and Zero-G, so I would investigate any ambient/trip-hop/downtempo/industrial/experimental/beat-centric libraries associated with these brands.

I'm aware of that and the only ones I haven't really investigated until now was the Sony ones, which I'm still checking out on. He also tends to use EastWest and AMG.

I really hope I can find the Alone in the Town and Heaven's Night ambience and the remaining beats that have yet to be discovered...

EDIT: I've found a good website where pretty much every sample library by the leading companies have demos and can listened to, It's a great place for investigating samples: http://www.soundstosample.com/
