This is part of the jazz bass sample that was used in Childish Thoughts:

Not sure of what library it comes from.

I am glad I found this thread.

I am surprised no one has mentioned that Akira uses Big Fish Audio Tool Shed Percussion quite a lot in many of the Silent Hill tracks.
He uses the sample cd for many different sounds here and there and several samples taken directly from the library, such as:

4 Pattern
Mr Joy
The Wicked End

Hey VIVI, do you still plan to make a reason refill of all the samples? Is it scrapped or are you waiting till all the samples have been found?

I was going to put together the Refill, but I kept running across new samples to add! I didn't want to have to repack everything any time I ran across a new sample. Now, since I most likely won't be adding new samples, I might put it together. :)

There's no password required... So far, about 100 people have downloaded this update. This is the first time anyone has mentioned a password. Download it again and see if that fixes the problem. It may have become corrupted when you downloaded it last. :)

Sorry for the double post, but I just wanted to add this final sample, mainly just because I find it a bit humorous.

This sample, you will instantly recognize as being used for the track "Serenity" on the Resident Evil 4 OST. BUT, Akira Yamaoka also used it on his track "Battle Drums" on the Origins OST.

Someone created a thread about the two tracks a while ago; Saying that Yamaoka sampled a Resident Evil track (OMG, rite?). But nope. Here's the original sample:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K3ZOV9CH

It comes from a (very old, damn near impossible to find) sample library called "Pandora's Toolbox" by Sonic Foundry.

I distinctly remember that sample being used extensively in Devil May Cry, too.

It's good to see that someone finally answered your request for 'Pandora's Toolbox', VIVIsect.

While listening to one of the Shattered Memories complete soundtracks, I noticed that the background music in the school is sampling Psychic TV's "Dead Cat"—I believe Akira has even cited Psychic TV as one of his inspirations.

Though I'm not sure if Dead Cat was created with a sample library. It's pretty old.

Not sure if this was mentioned before, but 'Sentry' and 'Futhswatering #1' 'from Pandora's Toolbox are both used in 'The Wicked End' -- the former at the beginning of the track, and the latter at the end.

Couple this with the sampling of 'To Burble & Pine' for 'Battle Drums', and it would seem that Yamaoka utilised this library a lot for SH:O.

^ Nice catch! I didn't even notice those. Heh, I was actually considering using the "Sentry" sample in one of my own projects. Yamaoka took all the good samples, damn it!

I was really hoping that the opening of "Dance With Night Wind" would be on Pandora's Toolbox. No such luck. I'll eventually run across it, though. ;)

I just hope that one day, we'll be able to find the samples from Alone in the Town and Heaven's Night :-)

I've lost the following forum, because I'm mastering a album in a studio for 1 month. So I'm downloading the update now. For industrial SH noises, I think he used the sample library Dark Skies - Cinematic Ambiences from Zero-G. I stoled this library from the studio that I'm working and, some samples, reminds from SH. We can keep searching from these industrial noises... yeah, I love this noises.

^ A big chunk of his industrial sounds comes from a sample disc called "Titanium Rhythms Vol. 1", by Big Fish Audio. Unfortunately, it's impossible to find today. Vol. 2 is fairly easy to find, and it's very Silent Hill-ish. Check it out (be warned, though. It's an old school sample disc and requires that you make your own loops).

Also, I have Dark Skies as well. There's nothing on there that he used, not that I've found, anyway. I think it was released a little too late. It may have been used on the later OSTs, but I'm not too sure.
