Managed to create an interesting sound, fairly close to the Clawfinger one... mostly based around the M1 choir, strings, and a deeper noise sample. Compression & loads of reverb. I'm gettin the same vibe anyway :)

Demo

Nisto - good job on the converter! Would love to put my hands on a few MIDIs off SH2 haha

VIVIsect - awesome samples, proper inspiring!

I think I mistook it for this sample from Null Moon.

jdnoidea9: to be completely honest, I personally didn't like your latest track quite as much as your previous works. But keep it up, I always love hearing stuff from people around here! :)

Aaww whaaatt :D it was more of a sample demo if anything anyway, I think the sample itself isn't too bad though :)

Also, does anyone know what that vibrato bell sound is from "Tears Of" ? SH1. I swear I've heard it in other places or something extremely similar... is that a sample?

Also that guitar sound from Alone in the town... I've been looking for guitar samples like that for ages

I liked it, it just wasn't quite as nice as your previous works imo. No hard feelings. :p

Not sure about the Tears Of sample, but if you like guitar samples like those in Alone in the Town, you want to look at samples from Mellotron keyboards. I'm pretty sure we've found all its samples in Michael Pinder's "Mellotron Archives" library. EDIT: Yeah, he used the A1, A2 and A3 MKII guitar samples for that track.

A little late, but yeah, you can find that "Alone in the Town" guitar in the Michael Pinder Mellotron library. That sound (MKII Guitar) is pretty famous, and most Mellotron libraries will include some version of it. SampleTron and M-Tron Pro both include it, for example.

That same guitar was also used in "Silent Hill (Otherside)" and "AZUSA IGO" and probably elsewhere.

Yamaoka used lots of other Mellotron sounds throughout the series. jdnoidea9 mentioned "Tears Of..." and the flute in that track is definitely from a Mellotron. Those vibes probably are, too.

The tears of bell is a tricky one... I will probably have to make a sample myself, just experiment it out and try and get as close as...

EDIT:

Sample Demo

This is what I have so far.. Any thoughts? Reeds, Music Box & Choir samples.

Does anyone posses the one from the game? I know I shouldn't ask, but it's virtually for comparison purposes? If it's no trouble.

Hmm, yeah, it doesn't sound that close really. It sounds alright imo, just... not that close to the original. Did you use the Mellotron samples? If not, what's the reason for not using them? If you can't find a library, feel free to send me a PM.

When you're asking about the one from the game, do you mean the sample(s) or the song? Tears Of... is not sequenced, so there's no samples in the game for it, but if you want the song I can post a link when I wake up.

Didn't realise Tears of wasn't sequenced, daymmn. Would have been good to have the dry sample so that my ears don't get distracted with the other layers ha ha...

This sounds pretty close to me. More than adequate for a cover. My only recommendation would be to throw a low-pass filter on it and dial back some of those higher frequencies. Maybe add some delay to it, as well.

The song "Forest" from SH2 - Has that bell sound been found? I'm feeling suspicious listening to it, sounds a lot like the "Tears Of" one. Could that be the same sample (or from the same sample-set)?!

In Tears Of.. he's using some sort of (sampled) electric piano, I think. I have an emulated Rhodes VST that I can make sound nearly identical. Not entirely sure about Forest, but it's probably the same (an electric piano).

Yeah that's what I used to create my sample as a Base :p

I'm sure it's the same sample in forest as the one in tears of... it sounds pretty much the same maybe a different eq

I think I posted this before, but HERE is the beat that I think (???) was used in Tears Of... If you slice it in half, loop it, and cut out the last hit, it's the same beat. But it sounds like there's another hi-hat sound in Yamaoka's. Maybe he used some other variation of this beat? It's hard to tell.

Also, jdnoidea9, you need to send me the full version of "Silent Hill 2 - Alternative Scene / Song 2" because that's an awesome sounding track! :)

Funny you should bring up the drum loop, VIVIsect. I was beginning to wonder myself. I also realized it at least sounds very similar to the drumloop in this unused track (at 0:22) from Biohazard GC, which I found a while back in Creative Essentials 12: HipHop & Swing Breakdown. Where does your sample come from?

That RE loop definitely sounds like the same one! Mine came from XTC Files of Hip Hop by E-Lab.

VIVIsect - Not gonna lie, it's only a short piece that I put together just for that scene, but here ya go! If someone's got an idea for a song title, let me know! (Song 2 isn't very imaginative now, is it haha)

No worries!

Does anyone possess the drum beat from Eternal Rest? The quieter (first) one.

Starts around 0:09. Is that on Vinilystics somewhere?

I don't think it's on Vinylistics (1). Looked through it. I know it's been found though.

EDIT: Speaking of Forest. Has the pad been found yet? 'Cause I just came across it in Twisted City..
