My treasured book.
I got this last year from a seller in Japan, and was wondering if anyone else has ever seen it..
It's got the backstory of the events of Silent Hill 1, along with an ACTUAL fold-out super-nifty map!!
Well, loads of other stuff, too, but I sadly cannot read Japanese.
Here's the cover in english, since the sleeve is in Japanese:

Figured I'd share.

I'll scan some of the book here in a little bit, I'm in the middle of dinner. (sorry)

aw poo...i wonder if it can be found here in the states...i'd grab it if i could find it...
...but it might actually be worth it to purchase a japanese to english/english to japanese with kanji dictionary just to piece it all together...that's what i'd started doing with my fullmetal alchemist manga and it's actually quite fun...i may not know how to properly pronounce, but at least you can learn some of the basic characters

Pretty cool, but it looks sort fo like a player's guide perhaps to the first game. I could be wrong but a good way to translate it (very poorly, I might add) is using word to input the characters in japanese and using its translate feature which will give you a very broken sentence. I would suggest doing about 1-3 lines at a time and translating it as it should be slightly more accurate, based on how I used it before.
For how broken the english is it is possible to rearrange the words, more or less, to make coherant sentences that make sense. I wouldn't expect too much info out of it, but it is worth a try if you have the software capible of doing so.

It's called a "Perfect Navigation" book, along with the story surrounding the events of the first game, so yes, it's a guide, but it's also filling you in on what's going on.
The reason it's so unique would be the hand-drawn illustrations of the weird things, like the burning body when you fight the lizard, the hanging bodies, altars, things like that.
The fold-out map is the best, though. Just like a real one.
I doubt it would provide any more info than Lost Memories already has, so I'm not going to translate it.
I'm just happy having it.
