Dude, I saw your video and it looks awesome!
Too bad my computer probably won't be able to handle it. But really, you've got some pretty good skills.

But since you're making a fangame, you should be careful with your English.
You don't want it to ruin the experience.
We are still here...

Using the music from other sources without permission is a violation of copyright.

As is, technically, using the Silent Hill intellectual property without permission or licence.

Just in case you didn't notice it, titobruni (and in case anyone else wants to see it), your game got an article on GGS:

This looks very interesting. I've heard nothing but good things, too!
I'll have to give this a chance some time.

I'm playing it at the moment, it's genuinely quite scary, I've got most of what's going on but my Spanish is more than a little rusty so I'm having some trouble with the memos! And now I'm kinda stuck at the red room(I think that's where it is?). But I am enjoying it and would recommend everyone else give it a go.

It runs fine on my system

Even if it's not for commercial purposes, I am concerned that the use of the music especially may violate not only copyright laws but also the moral rights of the original composers. Especially Angelo Badalamenti, since he has no connection to Silent Hill and might take objection to his music being associated with the series, which obviously does not apply to using Akira's music.

I know Spanish and i've read a few memos so far,,, i believe to see when you're going with the story, most interesting...

Keep up the great work, and i hope and wait for the finished product!
Best of luck to you.

People quit telling him about the copyright, it's his problem if he gets in trouble plus i mean he made the frigging game, im sure he knows about copyright issues.
OT, it looks very impressive.

That's just it, though. It's apparently unlikely that he does know about it. He's not a lawyer. The general public tend not to think about things like this. Which is what makes it so important for someone in the know to point it out so he can at least voluntarily assume the risk if he so chooses.

That's a very good thing for you to point out, Droo. But Konami could only come after him if he made money from this, right?

Under Canadian copyright laws, no, they could go after him regardless of profit. I'm not sure how American fair use laws work, but my understanding was fair use only applies if you use a defined minimal amount of a work for certain purposes. Using entire songs without permission and widely distributing the finished product would, I expect, not fit the definition of fair use. And moral rights (Badalementi's right to not want his music associated with projects without his approval) are violated the instant they're used without permission, completely separate from profit.

I see. Thank you for the clarification.
titobruni, if you ever come back and read this--please look into that further. I would hate to see you get into unnecessary trouble over something like this. Especially considering how great your game looks.

I don't want anyone to think I'm dumping on the project. I am merely trying to help as well.
