Silent Hill 4: OST. 2nd Disc

Post by Anonymous »

I absolutley love the OSTs too the games and after getting reminded how much I love them I went and ordered all 4 game OSTs. The thing is that I used to have the OSTS in a non-official capacity  and my favourite OST was number 4, gotta love track 21 :P , and noticed that the SH4 ost has a second disc with japanese track names. Anyone know what these are?

That second disk is.. weird. Not even normal Akira-style music for the most part. A man speaks in Japanese throughout most tracks, and I believe the names are taken from Buddhist monk ohms or chants? I don't know much about it, unfortunately. I don't remember why they were included.
I'm not dead yet, dammit.

What is the word concerning the promo CD stores gave out when Silent Hill 4 was released. I recently aquired one and was just wondering.

I know they arn't the official tracks but rather remixes, was it purely promo material?

Yeah, they're official recordings by Akira Yamaoka, but the majority of them aren't provided in the game. The Silent Hill 4: The Room Soundtracks are essentially solo albums for Yamaoka, with an occasional SH song on it.

And not very good.
This post is the property of its author and is not to be used elsewhere without explicit permission from the author.

. . . AND THAT'S THAT.

The track names are actually and old Japanese musical scale.

Latest soundtrack in the Silent Hill survival horror game
series. This soundtrack was included with the Limited Edition
preorder available from konamistyle online orders only. All
tracks composed by Akira Yamaoka and all vocal songs sung by
Mary Elizabeth McGlynn except track 10, sung by Joe Romersa.
Disc 2 is sort of bonus disc, with Teisui Ichiryusai telling
horror stories in Japanese, with background music composed by
Yamaoka.

Best way to put it (i have the 2nd disk of the OST on my computer if your interested)

I found the track names in English on the net, but I don't know whether they are correct or not:

1. Ichikotsu
2. Tangin
3. Hyoujou
4. Shozetsu
5. Shimomu
6. Soujou
7. Fushou
8. Oushiki
9. Rankei
10. Banshiki
11. Shinsen
12. Kamimu

Hope that helps.

And I asked a while ago without success, what the guy are talking about on the second disc... anyone that translated it? It doens't matter if it's just them goofing aroung, which was said before, it would still be nice to know what it's about.
