I've always wanted to know how a person with military training would manage a trip through Silent Hill. As we see in the screenshots, there's some major asskicking involved.

I'm just so excited that Silent Hill V is in production and its on these next-gen consoles, I cannot wait to see what the PS3 and XBOX 360 do for it in terms of visuals. I mean, the rest of the Silent Hill games were completely ahead of their times and LOOKED brilliant, I can only think the same for this one!!!

graphics look awesome, i got to liking the backstory, and from the movie clips i've seen it doesn't stray far from what i enjoy about silent hill.

If i'm forced to come to this thread to talk about what i like about the game, then Amy's avatar has got to go. that thing seriously creeps me out! :P
just kidding

anyway, i just like the fact that it's coming to 360. that's 5-600 bucks i dont have to spend just to play the game. the graphics/visuals look good imo. glad that combat is getting an upgrade.

Despite some justified reservations, I am of course glad that Silent Hill 5 is happening AT ALL. It could have easily not happened, considering the lukewarm reception of SH4 and the love it or hate it movie. Kudos to the fans!

Heh... who needs sanity? It IS Silent Hill after all. :P

But it's great that you have the threads consolidated. Hopefully it'll discourage 40000 more "I'm disappointed" threads.

The game looks good to me for the couple seconds that I saw. Once we get some more info and more screenshots start coming out, then I can start weighing things better.

That's a BIG reason for these threads. If anyone has any concerns or comments please feel free to PM me. Lets keep it out of this (and the other) thread.

I don't care what anyone says I still think this game has some of the best graphics I have seen. And they can only get better. I actually like the fact that the nurses resemble the ones in the movie.

I love how these "pro/con" threads managed to wipe out eight other ones. Ya damn kids and yer newfangled "post new thread" buttons.

I'm looking forward to the improved combat and the real-time damage. Don't know why, but I think if it's done correctly, it can really add to the intensity of the situation.

I also like how this story seems to focus less on the cult and more on the protagonist. I'm not anti-cult per say, but when the cult takes a step back, it allows for a more deeper story than "stop evil cult from doing evil cult stuff."

Unless it's something truly bizarre like the arcade shooter, I always look forward to anything new and SH related, which is why I can't understand all the naysayers. I understand voicing your concerns, but for a forum dedicated to SH, there's a whole lot of slagging going on.

Everyone's going to think that I'm crazy, but I love that when Alex approaches a door, he actually grabs the doorknob/handle. That has been driving me crazy for years, but I think that a small details like that are what makes the game realistic. The more realistic a game is, the more immersed I become.

I also am very impressed with the in-game graphics. They've got some wonderful new monsters (I was overjoyed to see the movie-style nurses), and seeing the bathroom change like it does in the movie.... wow. I loved that in the movie, and I'm glad to see it transferred to the game.

Alex has military training, so either a) we'll have a crazy fun time fighting for once, or b) he'll be bombarded with mind games and not know what to do.

I see you did what I had begged you to do months ago. I just hope Amy took her psychotic break out on a PH fan.

When the teaser for SH5 came out I begged that you or someone on the staff to make two threads SH5: One for the fans and one for the whining assholes. Since you made these two threads and close about 5 to ten threads. I assumed that the experience made you lose your mind and you it took out on (hopefully) a PH Fan.

Sometimes I make a funny. Sometimes I make a what the fuck.

It might have Krist I had suggested to. All I know is that I said it to a female mod.

Oooh... I want mind games AND fun time fighting. :)

Some of my favorite parts of Silent Hill 1-3 were the mind-bending puzzles (4 was quite lacking in this). I remember playing SH1 with my friend and my sister (they were watching, but loved seeing the game) and getting stuck on the piano puzzle for a good 45 min. We went out to grab a pizza, came back, and I suddenly had a stroke of genius and figured it out in 5 min... and I'll never forget the feeling of elation I got when I solved the Zodiac puzzle, even though it was really obscure (and different from the original Japanese version for some reason).

Good times...

They mentioned an X-Ray puzzle in SHV that requires using the lightbox. I hope there's more to it than just collecting X-Ray scraps. I'd prefer there to be some sort of thinking puzzle to go with it.

X-ray puzzle? Cool. You could die if you mess up!

I like the look of the main character, I like that it seems to be a more return to the "classic" style of silent hill from the first two games, I like the new camera and I like that they're improving the combat
