Who was the Alex's Dad cutting (possible spoilerz)

Post by otto2302 »

I mean.. when you go to basement of your house, you see a flashback about Alex's dad cutting something with the Circular Saw and there is blood spilling, then dad comes to Alex and starts yelling stuff about basement being "off-limits" where Alex can go, and he gets really angry that Alex opened the door. Also in map, there is some room in basement what says SECRET, but I never really used map on the house (at least in a small basement) so I'm not sure does that SECRET mean the room where Alex's dad was cutting something apparently.. living in pieces.

Sorry if this has been come up earlier, but I checked quicklinks and couple pages and didn't really find any topic considering this cutscene.

If there is a topic, could you post it here before locking it :F

Now, I have only played through the game once so far and it was a while since I saw this part. I reacted strongly to this part when I played through it though and even though I actually think (hope?) I am wrong, but I thought it looked like a skinned dog. Therefore I got the impression that it was the family dog. The thought of it makes me feel very uneasy. :?

I was never sure, to be honest. I figured it was cult related, perhaps a small animal that had been sacrificed? I'll be following this thread with interest, I'd like to know what other people suggest.

First of all: Adam wasn't using the circular saw. Just a regular knife.

And Adam was chopping a deer. Not a dog.

It was the animal that inspired the appearance/ creation of the Feral monster, just a deer.

He is exactly right. Just a knife and it was a deer.

Inspired by=/=is.

The feral dog's appearance was influenced by the skinning of the dear and by the family dog.

Okay, so he was hunter? Or was it still cult related? I mean did he just cut a deer to make food or doing somekind of ritual?

He's a hunter. It was even named his HUNTING room. It's not really supposed to be anything mysterious.

So then why doesn't Alex's dad want him to go down there?

Probably because he didn't want his son seeing disturbing stuff like that? Either that and/or he was doing something else down there was well as skinning and cutting up animals.

Adam always acted like this when Alex did something around/with his things.

Touching Adam's bookcase for example.

I think some of you guys are reading too deeply into that scene. Adam was a hunter, that room was his place to skin and clean the game, hence the knives and shower. His dad was just a dick to him and didn't want him coming into the room. That's all the scene showed, as for any ritual or cult related things is merely speculation, the door to the room did need the ritual knife but the game it self did not show or tell of any great signifigence to that room.

Besides, the cult doesn't have much association with randomly butchering deers and shit.

At first I figured it was just an animal that he'd hunted, then I kind of thought maybe whatever he hunted was a sacrifice and cult related, since it was such a no-go area.

But that just needlessly complicates things. As Aura said, there's no evidence the Cult demands animal sacrifices. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, even in this game.

Indeed. I just weren't so sure about it, and didn't even thought anything cult related at first, but then I just thought, "why not?" and asked it. Also I didn't know he was a hunter, I'm not THAT familiar of the game, I haven't even finished the game yet.

I never thought anything of that room either, but it can make you wonder what was so mysterious about it since you have to open it with that special knife...he really could've just locked the room up with a normal lock.
