I'm sure there are several people on here that will disagree, and actually say quite the opposite.

Yes, I'm aware. However, I'm content w/ my proclamation: She over-sings to a revolting degree, ultimately making the majority of her songs unlistenable, esp. on Silent Hill: Homecoming's soundtrack. While Akira Yamaoka's disenchantment w/ the franchise doesn't help his music's case, he still wrote some new ones that are worthwhile—just none that feature M.E.McG.

Remember: A majority doesn't make something so.

Gotta agree that she isn't a potential rock star and probably never will become one famous singer showing off her ass on MTV, but she does the job for the humble SH vocal songs making it unique musical experience

I'm not a big fan of her voice either. I don't think it's disgusting or anything, and I do like a couple of songs that she sings but she does this weird throaty whisper thing that annoys me after a while.

I like her just fine. In fact, on some songs, it's her voice that makes the song for me.

So, still no word on the release of this soundtrack? What the hell is the problem?! :x

yet another interview with akira yamaoka, saying that a commercial version of the soundtrack is still under consideration. he also talks about the future of silent hill.
also, i don't have a problem with mcglynn's voice. sometimes she does put too much strain in her voice in a song where it doesn't need to be though. however, this doesn't ruin the song for me. i still listen to the entire soundtrack in its entirety

Mary Elizabeth McGlynn isn't a terrible vocalist. Obviously she can carry a tune. I just don't think her voice "fits" with Yamaoka's music, particularly the electronic "trip hop" tunes. She definitely sounds as if she's out of her element. Not to mention, the lyrics she is forced to sing are always terrible.

Also, she seriously needs to step back from the mic during recording. I'm tired of hearing her breathe.

I would say this last round of songs, proved her ability to sing. I found her voice to be powerful, yet strained in good way. I loved the force of her voice on this soundtrack. I found her work in The Room, to be terribly passive, cause her voice to become lost in the background. Origins was better, but Homecoming really highlighted the strength of her voice.

IMO she is ten times the singer than most of the crappy artists on the radio today.

A friend passed me a copy of the soundtrack a couple days ago; I've really been enjoying it. I was very impressed with "One More Soul to the Call." Unfortunately my copy of the soundtrack doesn't have the song used in Scarlet's fight, which was a little sad.
Mary Elizabeth McGlynn has a fantastic voice.

I thought Akira wrote the lyrics she sings? :?: And doesn't someone in the soundbooth direct her? So is it really all her fault if some of the songs don't come off right?

I personally find Elle's Theme to be one of the most beautiful songs I have heard in a long time.

Well the soundtrack I listed on here from eBay, despite receiving no answer due to the thread becoming a discussion on Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, turned out to be completely genuine. Happy to say I can add that to my collection.

Joe Romersa writes the Lyrics doesn't he? And Akira does the music.
