All the original Silent Hill drew inspiration from Jacobs Ladder. Also the other Silent Hills drew inspiration from other sources of horror too. So Homecoming drawing inspiration from Saw and Hostel I do not see a problem with really.

Saw and hostel 1 aren't really considered great horror films though.

Saw I would consider great. Also, see the difference between gore and torture porn Horror and Psychological horror.

^The first two weren't bad 3rd one was decent i guess, but now it's becoming a crappy franchises horror series catered towards making some money. Also i wouldn't really consider saw horror, more of a mystery style movie if you ask me. So while it's not a great horror film it's a good mystery movie(well at least the first 2)

Well, I was talking about the first one, not the whole franchise. Cause the franchise as a whole sucks ass. The first movie was very good, and the story from some of the later ones filling in Jigsaw's motives and reasoning were good. But over all, after the first Saw, the other movies missed SO hard.

true, the first saw is quite good. second one is decent, but after that, they're average at best. the only interesting parts of the latter films are the crazy contraptions people find themselves in.

i too wanted Alex to either have a limp, or some type of blood stain in his jeans. i like Paladins idea of what should've happened after the drill scene. and as far as Elle going into the room, she won't go in it. i had to basically force her in the room, by getting behind her and moving her into the room with Alex. even then, she never acknowledges that her mom is on the floor, dead.

It was pretty grisly, but she sort of deserved it. Normally, I would turn my head, but I just stared with a horrified grin on my face as I watched.

Hey, if you have the Xbox version, have you noticed that, if you skip the cutscene before that your Xbox locks up? You see a half-appeared Healt Bar and a black screen. Annoying, but wierd. (Annoying because you have to watch that long cutscene, watch the cutscene with your dad, complete a puzzle, etc..)

Hmmm....i never skip thru cutscenes.....and that's for any game. Even if i've beaten the game multiple times. But especially for strong story driven games like SH....it's like a good movie that you like to watch, so i don't skip anything. I'm also not the type of person that finishes a game then will go right back and play it for the extras.

I'll usually finish a game then i won't go back to it for at least...5-6 months....for me this keeps the game fresh and it gives me time to forget about some aspects of the game itself. I do the same thing for sports games...right now i'm playing espn nfl 2k5(i hate madden) and as soon as football season is over i won't touch it until the new season comes around again.

Fighting games get year round play tho....

That part was badass, especially when Alex shouts "BITCH" at the end.

Hehe, I loved that part! I hated that woman. I knew she was up to something from the beginning >:[

I thought the scene was awesome, it was not a gore scene in my opinion like a lot of people are saying, it was just something that happened at the spur of the moment. Alex had no choice but to shove it through her face, otherwise it would of been him at the end of that drill.

I think because she was a woman is what may have disgusted some people. If Alex had killed Curtis in the same way I doubt there would be much opposition.

I could've sworn I already posted in this thread. Meh.

The thing that got to me was that this sect of the cult was turned into a typical scary movie cliche. The great thing about Silent Hill is that they let your imagination fill in the blanks by showing you the aftermath of a gory scene, instead of showing the gory scene itself.

The reason I felt they did it wrong was in the context-
Shepherd's Glen's order has been doing this to people for a while. A crazy cult kidnapping and torture/murdering people is a pretty great psychological mind fuck....
as long as you don't get to see exactly what was done to the victims.
The knowledge of what was going on coupled with seeing mutilated bodies would've been enough to convey this.

I would've even accepted ONLY seeing the scene with Alex, but we had to see Elle's as well. It was just a little too much.
The above user visits this forum *very infrequently.* If you need any type of response or answer from her, she may or may not be able to provide it in a timely manner.

Thank you for understanding. <3

Nah i don't care who got a drill in the eye, it was still corny. Felt like somethin that should of been hostile or somethin. Felt out of place in a silent hill game.

It looked to me like a cheap attempt to get people "excited".
Gore in movies seems to attract more and more audience every day :?

Same goes for the dead abducted people, near the end.

In all seriousness...the first time when this scene happened,...i was like "wtf?"....but not in a good way..i was kinda laughing at the fact that she was drilling holes in his leg...and the way that alex and the judge struggled with the drill (i know it was supposed to be intense and dramatic)...but it just came off a bit comical for for me...the judge at that point felt like an evil twirly mustachey villian....like someone else posted it felt out of place...

i disagree i felt it was in place especially considering what homecoming was as a game

i mean this one and four are the only ones to really show violence in the franchise
i suppose i dont understand why some ppl have a problem with this i mean the franchise as a whole has always been considered violent
