Did anyone find this strange?

Post by cedar grove »

ok so i know its been a year (roughly) since the game came out, and this has probably been found but i was playing it again today and found a strange thing:

adams watch is in the Bartlett family crypt.

i was just wondering if anyone had an reasons for this

i personaly think mayor Bartlett put the watch in because it said "forgive me"(weak theory i know)
what does no man want, but dosent want to lose either?

but in the flashback with josh dead adam is wearing the watch (the camara has a close up on the watch) so again why would adam put his watch in someone elses coffin?

It's Joey's. Alex and Bartlett talk about it at the end of the Hotel...

It might look similar to Adam's watch, not sure I'd have to check. If so, they probably just re-used the model.

in the end cutscenes they did a closeup on alex's dad's watch as if it was important, relating to the watch found in the crypt

Maybe men from Shepherd's Glen just like their jewellery? >_>

I think that this is being over analysed.

^Hmm, I don't know. It's quite strange. It's Joey's watch yes, but Adam is wearing the same watch as well.
Get the "Drowning Ending" and it will close up on Adam's left wrist showing the watch again. I don't think they re-used a model.

It's not like they zoomed in Adam's hand just for you to think "Oh look! they re-used the model of Joey's watch!" it's to think like "Wait? Isn't this the same watch that Alex gave to Bartlett? Why's Adam using it???"

They focused on Adams watch because of the time - 2.06.

This number is significant throughout the whole game, it is not the watch found in the Bartlett family crypt.

Seeing as the mayor says its Joey's watch and all. It's just a similar model.

It's okay, Double Helix used the number 206 so many times that it's become almost meaningless like Bubble Head Nurses and Pyramid Head. >_>

Oh knock it off, you're exaggerating. They used it because it had meaning to the storyline, just like SH2 overuses butterfly motifs and stuff relating to Mary. You can't really compare it to the obvious fanservice of the Nurses and Pyramid Head, unless some creepy guy is going "Oh fuck yea, 206, my favorite number! YEA YEA YEA!"

I was suddenly reminded of that Kool-Aid ad.

The butterflies and moths in Silent Hill 2 were actually symbolic and meant something.

The only relevance that the number 206 has in the game is that it's the hospital room Alex stayed in, all the clocks have stopped at that time (wtf?), and it's used once as the solution to the puzzle.

This statement is 100% false. I suggest you play the game again.
Or read this...
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Alex snapped after he killed Joshua and was sent to the psych ward of Brookhaven Hospital, where he stayed on room 206.

Uh, Cyrus? Not sure how you couldn't piece this REALLY OBVIOUS PUZZLE TOGETHER but the reason the clocks stopped at 2:06 is because
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
that's the last time Alex had any firm grip on his sanity. Hence the ZOOM into Adam's watch when he's holding Josh's corpse, chastising Alex for being foolish.
Far be it for I to say NO YOU'RE WRONG IT'S THIS FOREVER LA LA LA but.. come on, man. That one's a freakin' give-away.

Not only that, but it's also when
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
Josh died, and thus when the entire town was royally fucked over by God's wrath.

I think the camera zooms in on the time which signifies Joshuas time of death/accidental murder and also the room number alex stayed in. They both seem to connect and make sense. I forget at what exact scene does the camera zoom in on the watch at?

I had some theories about seeing 2:06 everywhere. How couldn't you notice it? I just finished Homecoming a few minutes ago and got the good ending (I shot my mother, forgave my father, and gave Wheeler a medpack) so I'm ready to read spoiler posts. Reading documents also mentions 'patient 206' and it's pretty obvious that's Alex. After his Dad said he'd been in an asylum and not war, I pieced that part together pretty easily.

I have to say, Homecoming turned out to be effin' awesome.
Another frequency perpetuated into context, trapped in the eternal paradox.
