Lurker Strategy

Post by simeonalo »

My own Lurker strategy. Sure, they're easy monsters, but I believe that this strategy will help you

Lurkers are actually weak enemies and can be killed off very quickly. Their main weakness is their head. If you have a gun, aim at their head and shoot rapidly (preferably with the handgun). If you chose hand-to-hand combat, use the crowbar or knife. Immediately dodge the Lurker's first attack and do a hard attack three times. Alternatively, you can do the crowbar combo of X and Square and while it's down, do a charged attack. This is my favorite strategy if you have a knife, usually no damage is taken:

X (2x) + Square followed by an X + Square

This is easily done on Lurkers encountered on the street.

If the Lurker is underwater (like the Shepherd's family home), immediately lock on to it, this way Alex will know where it is before it disappears, and do the same as above.

Tell me if this works for you. If it doesn't, I'll have to adjust somethings.

I found the knife combo usually pins them down to the point where they can't attack back. There were a few lurkers in the sewers that I took out with a handgun (one shot to the head downs them quickly).
One more soul to the call, for all, in silence...
Comes two more souls to the call, for all, and in time!
Three more more souls to the call, they fall...
Unknowing that four more souls to the call, won't be all, and you know it!

I already knew about that but thanks for posting, it might help others.

The easiest tactic for me is to charge the circular saw.

I mostly use the axe. Dodge... attack... and... Chop! There goes the head.

Best tactic? Laser gun! :P That weapon made my second playthrough piss easy. I'm not picking it up next time, it really ruins the gameplay.

I realized that aggression is a huge asset in this game, particularly with the Axe. Dash forward and uppercut strike (either attack button while dashing) followed by an uncharged strong attack will behead them EVERY TIME with the axe. I don't know at what time I fell in love with the fire/pulaski axe, but it is the finest weapon in the game behind the broken (albeit weak) knife.

I've found innovative ways to kill most enemies with just the axe (once you get it). Ferals are about the only enemy I really have to pull the knife on anymore, and the nurses if they glitch out and don't stop when the flashlight is off.

I use the knife. It stuns them, so they can't fight back. They go down very quickly too.

I find ferals are easier with the pipe/crowbar. the weak-weak-heavy attack combo will down them and then just stab their head with the finishing action thingy...
